What are the hazards of ovarian cysts in fertility?

The ovaries are closely related to female fertility. Once a problem occurs, it can easily affect a woman's pregnancy. So, can ovarian cysts help women have children? What are the hazards?

Ovarian cysts are a type of ovarian tumor, which may be benign or malignant. Therefore, after discovering an ovarian cyst, the first thing to do is to confirm whether it is benign or malignant.

It should be noted that sometimes the ovaries may have changes similar to cysts, but they are not cysts, such as polycystic ovaries, corpus luteum cysts, endometriosis in the ovaries, etc. Although these diseases may also cause lumps on the ovaries, they are different from ovarian cysts. If the nature of the cyst affects the function of the ovaries, it will naturally affect conception.

Generally speaking, as long as both ovaries and fallopian tubes are not removed, fertility will not be affected. However, if ovarian cysts are not properly treated, the harm is still very serious:

1. Miscarriage or premature birth

If the ovarian cyst is relatively large, it may squeeze the uterus and affect the growth of the uterus, leading to miscarriage or premature birth.

2. Dystocia

If the ovarian cyst is too large, it may squeeze the uterus and fetus, causing abnormal fetal position and affecting normal delivery. It may also block the birth canal and cause dystocia.

3. Impact on the Fetus

Ovarian cysts themselves will not have any adverse effects on the fetus, but if the cysts cause complications and require urgent surgery, or if the cysts are found to be malignant and require urgent treatment, it will affect the fetus and may even require the fetus to be abandoned.

4. Infertility

Ovarian cysts can affect ovarian function and may cause blockage of the fallopian tubes, which can affect pregnancy. Research data shows that the probability of infertility in women with ovarian cysts can be as high as 40%.

Whether a patient with ovarian cysts can have children depends on whether the patient can cooperate with the treatment and whether she looks at the disease scientifically.
