What is abnormal vaginal discharge?

There are many different manifestations of abnormal leucorrhea. Normal female leucorrhea is milky white. With the changes in the menstrual cycle and the different levels of estrogen and progesterone secretion, it presents different properties. Sometimes it is transparent, sometimes it is sticky, sometimes it is clear, sometimes it is more, and sometimes it will gradually decrease. If the leucorrhea is yellow or green, or it is purulent like nasal mucus, or it is accompanied by vulvar itching, or the leucorrhea has a peculiar smell, such as fishy or foul odor, it may be inflammation of the vagina and cervix, or a tumor disease. It is recommended to test the leucorrhea to determine whether there are vaginal pathogens, and to do cervical cancer screening and vaginal ultrasound to determine whether the abnormal leucorrhea is caused by lesions of the cervix or endometrium.

Ovarian dysfunction in some patients can also cause abnormal leucorrhea, so different abnormal leucorrhea has different causes, and it is recommended to treat the cause.

Curd-like or tofu-like leucorrhea is a characteristic of Candida vaginitis, often accompanied by severe vulvar itching and burning pain in the vulva and vagina.
