More than 90% of primary school children drink sugary drinks at least once a week! Nutritionists urge: Remember to drink plenty of water, drink enough, and drink in an environmentally friendly way

In recent years, convenience stores and beverage shops have become popular, and having a drink every day to quench thirst or heal oneself has become a daily routine for Taiwanese people. However, sugary drinks are mostly made of refined sugar, which is a high-calorie, low-nutrition value food. If children consume excessive amounts, it will cause obesity, metabolic abnormalities and tooth decay. It may also hinder intellectual development, affect learning ability, and increase the risk of metabolic diseases and cancer in the future!

School children in the east drink excessive amounts of sugary drinks Lions Clubs join hands with nutritionists to protect children's health

According to a survey by the National Health Administration, more than 90% of elementary school children drink sugary drinks at least once a week, and the intake of ice drinks by female schoolchildren aged 10-12 in mountain and eastern regions exceeds 10% of total calories, exceeding the national dietary index recommendation of "daily dietary added sugar intake should not exceed 10% of total calories"!

Hualien Zhongshan Lions Club President Huang Zengguang upholds the Lions Club's commitment to supporting childhood cancer prevention. This year, he has teamed up with the Cancer Care Foundation to bring healthy eating education to Hualien schools. The first step is to promote "drink more boiled water and refuse sugary drinks!" He hopes to combine education with entertainment, establish correct dietary concepts among schoolchildren, and become little pioneers in cancer prevention, staying away from diseases from an early age.

The sugar content of the favorite drink was exposed, and the school children were so scared that they said they dared not drink it anymore

Cancer Care Foundation nutritionist Yang Chuanying specially organized an interactive course called "Shining Mirror River". She selected some favorite drinks of schoolchildren, such as breakfast shop black tea, Yakult, Coke, Sprite, etc., and asked students to guess the estimated sugar content after tasting. After the answer was announced, the correct weight was weighed. Students were shocked to find that the actual sugar content of the drinks was far higher than the estimated value. Students even shared after class: "The breakfast shop black tea tasted astringent and bitter. I didn't expect it to contain 25 grams of sugar. I dare not order it next time." "Yakult seems to have the least sugar content at first glance, but there are 14 grams of sugar per 100 ml. If converted to the same volume, it has the most sugar. I'd better not drink it."

Nutritionists teach you 3 tips for drinking water, which are healthy, economical and environmentally friendly

Nutritionist Yang Chuanying also emphasized the importance of drinking water in the course, using 3 tips to help children easily remember to "drink more water, drink enough, and drink in an environmentally friendly way" every day!

1. Drink more water: It is recommended to drink more boiled water instead of sugary drinks, which can reduce calorie intake and keep away from the threat of obesity and various metabolic diseases; it can also maintain a constant body temperature to prevent heat stroke; it can remove waste from the body by excreting urine, sweat and feces, promote gastrointestinal motility to prevent constipation and avoid urethritis!

2. Drink enough: The recommended daily water intake is body weight multiplied by 30. Depending on body size, the daily water intake is about 1250-2000cc. Drink water in multiple times and drink slowly. Don't drink too fast or too much at one time, as this will cause physical discomfort.

3. Environmentally friendly drinking: It is recommended to bring your own environmentally friendly cup and do not buy bottled water to avoid the health risks caused by ingesting plastic particles.
