Obesity is actually caused by malnutrition? ! Weight loss doctors teach you how to judge 3 major symptoms

"Obesity" is a civilization disease of modern people. However, the cause of obesity is not necessarily related to eating too much or eating too much. When there is "malnutrition", weight will also be out of control. Dr. Yang Zhiwen, a bariatric specialist and family medicine doctor, said that there are three major symptoms of obesity caused by "malnutrition", which may be worth checking first.

Dr. Yang Zhiwen used the vivid metaphor of "the human body is like a supercar" to explain that the human body is like a supercar. To have good performance, it needs a good body frame, engine, navigation, tires and screws. In order to provide good support for the human skeleton, the first key is whether the amount of protein consumed is sufficient; other common nutrients that are insufficiently absorbed include vitamin B, vitamin C, vitamin D and magnesium.

Dr. Yang Zhiwen gave an example, mitochondria are power plants that provide energy to cells, and carnitine is like a navigation system that brings fatty acids into the mitochondria; vitamins are like screws. When vitamin B is insufficient, the mitochondria cannot function and cannot burn fat, causing fat accumulation. Also, because the mitochondria cannot produce enough energy, people easily feel tired. Simply put, when the human body is "malnourished" for a long time, even if you have an invincible supercar "inlaid with gold", it will not be able to start and will be useless.

Dr. Yang Zhiwen shared an outpatient case: A 50-year-old male supervisor who works in a factory has rice balls and fried dough sticks for breakfast every day because his job requires a lot of physical strength. Sometimes he can even eat 2 to 3 servings. Even so, he will feel hungry before lunch time, and his blood sugar level fluctuates and is difficult to control. He also complained that no matter how much or how rich the portion is, he still feels physically and mentally insufficient. After a blood test, it was found that the glycated hemoglobin was seriously exceeded at 10 (normal value is between 4.0-5.6%), triglyceride was 350 (normal value <150mg/dl), and body fat was 40% (normal value 15%-25%).

Dr. Yang Zhiwen explained that the patient had been consuming a large amount of starch since breakfast, and even his lunch and dinner were eating habits with more rice and less vegetables and meat, which caused him to suffer from multiple nutritional deficiencies for a long time: including insufficient protein intake, which led to muscle loss, vitamin D deficiency affecting muscle synthesis, and insufficient vitamin B and carnitine affecting fat metabolism; plus, because he felt tired, he often replaced boiled water with coffee and tea. Excessive caffeine affected iron absorption, causing muscle deprivation and weakness, resulting in a sharp rise in blood sugar and body fat.

211 Plates Diet to help control weight

Dr. Yang Zhiwen asked the patient to make the most basic dietary adjustments. Since adopting the 211 plate diet, she gradually reduced her starch intake and began to consume large amounts of protein and vegetables. When she returned for a follow-up visit one month later, it was found that the patient's complexion had improved and she had lost 5 kilograms.

Although nutrient deficiency will not affect body functions in the short term, long-term neglect may not only lead to obesity problems, but also cause a series of abnormal conditions such as cardiovascular disease, sarcopenia, and hormone metabolism.

There are three major symptoms of obesity caused by "malnutrition"

How to determine obesity caused by "malnutrition"? Dr. Yang Zhiwen also provided the following 3 major symptoms:

1. Under the same work pressure, fatigue and anxiety increase.

2. After finishing a meal, you tend to feel hungry between meals, especially wanting to eat sweets.

3. Compared with relatives and friends around them, they are more afraid of cold, especially women feel it most obviously.

However, the most efficient and accurate diagnosis method still requires a professional physician to conduct a blood test combined with body composition and nutritional metabolism analysis.

Dr. Yang Zhiwen emphasized that although nutrient deficiency will not affect body functions in the short term, long-term neglect may not only lead to obesity problems, but also cause a series of abnormal conditions such as cardiovascular disease, sarcopenia, and hormone metabolism. Instead of waiting until your “supercar” breaks down before seeking help, it is better to pay attention to a balanced diet as early as possible to keep your body in the best condition.
