They eat about the same amount as ordinary people, or even less than thin people. However, it feels like "you'll gain weight even if you drink a sip of water." Traditional Chinese medicine believes that obese people with this physique should no longer use dieting methods to lose weight, but should gradually increase the amount of exercise and eat some foods that can eliminate phlegm and dampness.

Modern people become fat due to spleen deficiency

Modern people are accustomed to sitting for long periods of time, and they have irregular lifestyles, eat more meat and less vegetables, take drugs, hormones and air pollution. More and more people have become fat due to spleen deficiency. Lu Zhizheng, who has the title of "National Medical Master" in mainland China, said in his new book "Removing Dampness from the Body: Regulating Spleen and Stomach Diseases, Skin Diseases, Chronic Diseases, and the Three High Diseases" that Chinese medicine has a saying: "Strong stomach and weak spleen", which means that although some people have a good appetite and can eat a lot, their spleen's ability to transport and transform food is very weak, and the food cannot be converted into nutrients. Over time, the dampness that cannot be transported and transformed accumulates and becomes fat on the body.

It just so happens that the spleen and stomach are located in the middle of the human body, so many people gain weight starting from the belly and become potbellied. From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, obesity is a disease. Some people around us are obese and have dark complexion. This type of fat people mostly have heavy dampness in their bodies, and it is mostly caused by "spleen and stomach deficiency".

TCM regulates the spleen and stomach. These 4 acupoints should be remembered

During Chinese medicine treatment, acupuncture and medicine are used together, including the Chinese medicine Stephania tetrandra, raw coix seed, fried betel nut slices, Plantago seed, Scutellaria barbata, etc.; as for acupuncture, the method of "balanced supplementation and balance drainage" is adopted, and the acupoints include Zhongwan, Tianshu, Guanyuan, Zusanli, etc.

1. Zhongwan Point: Located 4 inches above the navel on the anterior midline, it has the effect of strengthening the stomach and spleen.

2. Guanyuan Point: Located 3 inches below the navel, this point is very useful and can help regulate balance regardless of whether you are too fat or too thin.

3. Tianshu point: There are two on the left and right (two finger widths to the left and right of the navel). This point is a "Mu point" of the Hand Yangming Large Intestine Meridian (referring to the acupoint where the Qi of the internal organs gathers in the chest and abdomen), which can stop diarrhea and regulate the stomach.

4. Fenglong Point: Located on the anterior and lateral side of the lower leg, 8 inches above the tip of the lateral malleolus, outside the Tiaokou Point, and two horizontal fingers (middle fingers) away from the front edge of the tibia. It can eliminate dampness and resolve phlegm.

After acupuncture on the above 4 acupoints for 20 minutes, the whole body will feel relaxed. After 2 weeks of continuous treatment, I no longer had diarrhea, could sleep well at night, lost weight, and my waist circumference also shrank. The four acupoints mentioned above can be used for self-care through massage and moxibustion. In addition, abdominal massage is also suitable for self-care for obese people.

Reminder: obese people should find out the reason for their obesity before losing weight, and should not lose weight randomly. For obesity caused by the "spleen deficiency" mentioned above, it is not advisable to try dieting easily. Once you diet, the symptoms of "spleen deficiency" will immediately worsen and other problems will occur in your body.
