Grapefruit contains flavonoids that have the effect of lowering blood sugar

Joseph Napoli, a professor of nutrition who led the research, pointed out that although it is currently impossible to pinpoint which active compound in grapefruit helps with weight loss, the flavonoid "naringin" in grapefruit and metformin, a prescription drug for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, can achieve the same blood sugar-lowering effect in terms of blood sugar control.
