Helping disadvantaged youth start their own businesses, Peking University Health Science Center adds nutrition points

In order to apply for the "Economically Disadvantaged Youth Entrepreneurship Skills Training Program" from the Youth Welfare Association, the Taipei Medical University Hospital assists economically disadvantaged youth to start their own businesses, in order to provide nutritional analysis suggestions for young people starting catering businesses, so that they can be both delicious and healthy, add points to the food and increase its value, and fulfill the mission of corporate social responsibility and health protection.

The disadvantaged youth are in charge. Teacher Aji (second from left), Youth Aid Association Chairman Chen Yizhen (third from right), Peking University Affiliated Hospital Administrative Vice President Zhu Zibin (second from right), and Nutrition Department Director Su Xiuyue (first from right) took a group photo with successful entrepreneurial students. Students were invited to present their successful entrepreneurial achievements, including single mother Nan Haidi, who learned the techniques of making golden kimchi and dumplings to support her family of six and opened a shop in Hemei Township, Changhua County; Zhang Fangcai, who opened a chicken steak shop in Sanchong District, New Taipei City; and Wang Wenxiao and Huang Yixuan, who will open a beef noodle shop in Wuqi District, Taichung City at the end of April. At the same time, the entrepreneurial certification mark was awarded to the students, and the new enrollment campaign was announced. Chef Aki, who has superb cooking skills, was invited to the scene to cheer on the students and called on young people who are interested in starting a business to participate in this year's training courses and move towards their dreams of successful entrepreneurship.

Chen Zhenwen, director of Taipei Medical University Hospital, said that the recent outbreaks of ractopamine-laced American beef and avian influenza are on the rise, and people are particularly concerned and cautious about food safety and hygiene. In view of the fact that modern people focus on health preservation and are increasingly paying attention to dietary health, the hospital has invested special resources and expertise to arrange a team of nutritionists to provide nutritional analysis suggestions for the students' entrepreneurial food, so that it is both delicious and healthy, adding points to the food and increasing its value.

Su Xiuyue, director of the Nutrition Office of Peking University Health Science Center, said that student Nan Haidi's kimchi is made with fresh cabbage seasoned with white vinegar, sugar and chili peppers, which allows it to produce a special flavor in a very short time, adding variety to the diet. Also, because it contains less oil, the calories in kimchi are lower than those in ordinary stir-fried vegetables. The cabbage can be marinated in a short time, which is different from the general pickles that need several days or even months to mature. It can avoid the dangerous factors caused by environmental variables during long-term pickling and fermentation, and the generation of harmful microorganisms and bacteria contamination to the human body. Wang Wenxiao and Huang Yixuan use beef noodles made from beef tendon, which is high in protein and low in fat. The vegetable soup made from beef bones is light and refreshing. If you can add more pakchoy to the noodles, or have a plate of kimchi or blanched vegetables, it will be 100% healthy.

For the first time in its 100th year, the Youth Development Council organized the "Entrepreneurship Skills Training Program for Youth from Economically Disadvantaged Families" to attract entrepreneurial youth to participate in catering training courses. Among the 92 trainees who have completed the training, 11 have started their own businesses and 26 are employed. Chen Yizhen, chairman of the Youth Development Council, said that this year the "Simple Entrepreneurship Training and Marketing Program for Youth from Economically Disadvantaged Families" will continue in cooperation with Hongguang University of Science and Technology. Training courses are expected to be held at Hongguang University of Science and Technology in Taichung from June 18 to June 30, and at the Vocational Training Center of the Chinese Culture and Social Welfare Foundation in Taipei from June 25 to July 6.
