National Health Bureau: More than 40% of adults gained an average of 1.7 kg after the Chinese New Year

The nine-day Lunar New Year holiday has ended, and the 30th is a working day on Monday, and many people are still in the shadow of "New Year's Day syndrome". According to the 100th "Survey on Weight Control during the Spring Festival" conducted by the National Health Service of the Department of Health, 63% of the public do not pay special attention to their weight during the Spring Festival, and nearly 41% of the public said that they would gain weight during the Spring Festival, with an average increase of about 1.7 kilograms. The Department of Health reminds the public that they should continue to "exercise more, eat healthily, and weigh themselves every day" so that you can easily stay healthy.

There is no honeymoon in health management. "Exercise more, eat healthily, and weigh yourself every day" will make it easy for you to stay healthy.

There is no honeymoon in health management. Director You Lihui of the Health Management Division of the Taipei City Health Bureau said that this year's Spring Festival has 9 consecutive days of holidays. The joyful atmosphere and rich delicacies can easily make people feel full. How to enjoy the food while taking care of health without burden is definitely what everyone cares about.

For example, eating 100 grams of traditional rice cake contains 240 calories; 20 pistachios are equivalent to 90 calories, which requires brisk walking for half an hour to burn off. When the body accumulates an excess of 7,700 calories, it will gain 1 kg of weight. During the New Year holiday, if you increase your daily intake by 500 to 1,000 calories, your weight may increase by 1 to 1.5 kg after the holiday. The rapid weight gain should not be underestimated.

You Lihui pointed out that exercising more is one of the necessary conditions for losing weight. Avoid sitting for long periods of time and do simple muscle strength training at home, such as sit-ups and push-ups. Also, take the stairs more often instead of the elevator, walk or ride a bicycle to take public transportation, and use your holidays to engage in outdoor leisure activities with your family, such as hiking or traveling.

Among them, "walking" is a simple and relaxing sport that does not require any special equipment. All you need to do is wear casual clothes and sports shoes, and use the following techniques: "keep your head up, chest out, and abdomen contracted, hold your hands lightly on your waist, swing your shoulders naturally to relax, and walk forward." Tips for walking: walk 10,000 steps a day at a speed of 4 kilometers per hour. It only takes 90 minutes, or about 6 kilometers, to burn about 300 calories.

In addition, to eat healthily, You Lihui recommends eating five fruits and vegetables every day, not eating or drinking too much, eating foods with low fat content, choosing fresh and natural ingredients as much as possible, and cooking food by steaming, stewing, or mixing cold dishes. When it comes to snack intake, you should follow the principle of "eating in limited amounts and chewing slowly". The portion of snacks should not be too large, and the calories should be controlled within 70 to 100 calories.

It is also recommended to buy snacks in small packages, or to portion them out yourself, to avoid leaving a large bag of snacks within easy reach to prevent accidental overeating. Alternatively, you can take 10 to 15 minutes to "focus" on enjoying your snacks, which will make you feel satisfied. Avoid putting food into your mouth while working, as you may accidentally eat more bite after bite.
