Extremely picky eater! British girl nearly died after eating only chicken nuggets

Picky eating is not a disease, but seriously unbalanced dietary intake is definitely a major hazard to health. Many parents are racking their brains to solve the common picky eating phenomenon of their children, but doctors remind us not to underestimate its seriousness, lest we regret it. A British girl almost died because she only ate junk food such as chicken nuggets and French fries for a long time, which is the most bloody example.

The British Daily Mail recently reported that Stacey, now 17 years old. Stacey Irvine was rushed to the hospital last week due to sudden breathing difficulties. Doctors found that she was seriously lacking in vitamins, iron, calcium and antioxidants. Upon questioning, they learned that she had often eaten fried chicken nuggets from fast food restaurants as her staple food since she was 2 years old, and even took potato chips as breakfast. As for vegetables and fruits, she was not interested, which led to the accumulation of a lot of bad fat in her body and severe anemia symptoms.

Nutritionists say that such extreme symptoms of picky eating are indeed rare, but parents should never indulge their children in such unbalanced eating habits. Eating too much high-calorie fast food will not only cause the body's saturated fat and sodium levels to exceed the standard, but will also cause multiple chronic diseases and reduce the body's immunity. According to the results of a well-known fast food company's own survey, 6 pieces of fried chicken contain about 17 grams of fat, which is equivalent to 280 calories. If Stacey eats an average of 20 pieces a day, it is equivalent to consuming 58 grams of fat (926 calories), which not only exceeds the doctor's daily recommended upper limit of 56 grams, but also almost reaches half of an adult's daily 2000 calories. In addition, she does not eat other fruits and vegetables, which has caused her health to be in danger at a young age.

If a person has a strong preference for a specific food and refuses to eat other foods, it will be medically defined as "psychological food addiction" and most of them need psychological treatment to change their deviant eating habits. Nutritionists recommend that when eating fruits and vegetables, it is important to follow the principle of diversity and color to ensure long-term health.
