After attending the weight loss class, Ms. Chen's weight decreased significantly and her fatty liver hepatitis was cured. Three years after successfully losing weight, Ms. Chen still maintains a normal weight and has not gained weight again.

Dr. Chen Mei-jin from the Weight Management Center of Chung-Hospital, Kaohsiung Medical University, said that at the weight loss clinic of Kaohsiung Medical University, they often see couples, parents/children, and other family members who are also overweight coming to seek treatment together. Many people also attribute this to genetic factors, thinking that because their parents are fat, they will inevitably be overweight too. In fact, from a medical point of view, body shape is indeed hereditary. For example, some people tend to have fat in their bellies, some tend to have fat in their arms, and some tend to have fat in their thighs. The speed of calorie metabolism also has a genetic component. However, lifestyle habits are the biggest cause of obesity among modern people. Family members in the same family often have similar eating habits and lifestyles, so obesity often runs in families.

Take Ms. Chen’s example. After learning the correct eating habits and implementing them in her family’s daily lives, the whole family was able to lose weight, which proves that lifestyle problems are the biggest cause of obesity among modern people.
