Abnormal yellow leucorrhea with odor and itching

Abnormal yellow leucorrhea with odor and itching

Abnormally yellow leucorrhea, odor, and itching may be a sign of vaginitis, cervicitis, or other gynecological diseases. You need to see a doctor in time to identify the cause and receive targeted treatment. Common causes include infection, hormonal changes, improper personal hygiene, etc. Treatment methods include medication, lifestyle adjustments, and dietary conditioning.

1. Infection

Bacterial vaginitis, candidal vaginitis or trichomonas vaginitis are common causes of abnormal yellowing, odor and itching of vaginal discharge. Bacterial vaginitis is usually caused by anaerobic bacteria, candidal vaginitis is often related to Candida albicans infection, and trichomonas vaginitis is caused by Trichomonas vaginalis. After infection, the vaginal environment is unbalanced, resulting in changes in the color, odor and texture of vaginal discharge.

Treatment:

- Bacterial vaginosis: oral metronidazole or topical clindamycin ointment.

- Vaginal candidiasis: Use clotrimazole suppositories or fluconazole orally.

- Trichomonas vaginitis: oral metronidazole or tinidazole.

2. Hormone changes

Pregnancy, menopause, or changes in the menstrual cycle may cause hormone levels to fluctuate and affect vaginal discharge. Decreased estrogen levels can make the vaginal mucosa thinner and more susceptible to infection, leading to abnormal vaginal discharge.

Treatment:

-Use estrogen cream or oral hormone regulating medicine.

-Keep the vulva clean and avoid using irritating lotions.

3. Improper personal hygiene

Excessive cleaning, use of alkaline washes or wearing non-breathable underwear may disrupt the balance of vaginal microecology and lead to abnormal leucorrhea.

Treatment:

- Choose cotton underwear and avoid tight clothing.

- Use mild water to clean the vulva and avoid frequent use of lotions.

4. Diet and lifestyle habits

Factors such as a high-sugar diet, staying up late, and high stress may reduce immunity and increase the risk of infection.

Treatment:

-Increase the intake of foods rich in probiotics, such as yogurt and fermented foods.

-Reduce the intake of high-sugar and high-fat foods and eat more fresh fruits and vegetables.

5. Medical advice

If abnormal vaginal discharge persists for more than a week, or is accompanied by severe itching, pain, bleeding, etc., you should see a doctor as soon as possible. The doctor may determine the cause through routine vaginal discharge examination, cervical scraping or B-ultrasound, and develop a personalized treatment plan.

Abnormal yellowing, odor and itching of vaginal discharge are health signals from the body and should be taken seriously. Symptoms can be effectively relieved and recurrence prevented by timely medical treatment, proper medication, and adjustment of lifestyle and diet. Maintaining good personal hygiene habits and a healthy lifestyle are the key to preventing abnormal vaginal discharge.
