What to do if leucorrhea increases due to cervicitis

What should I do if the amount of vaginal discharge increases due to cervicitis?

1. Cervicitis is one of the common gynecological diseases, which is more common in women of childbearing age. It is caused by cervical injury and pathogen invasion, including cervicovaginal inflammation and cervical mucosal inflammation. The cervix is an important line of defense to prevent pathogens from entering the upper reproductive tract. However, the single columnar epithelium itself has poor anti-infection ability. If it is damaged by mechanical stimulation such as sexual intercourse, childbirth, abortion, surgery, etc., it is more likely to be infected.

2. Clinically, cervicitis is divided into acute and chronic inflammation, and most of them are chronic inflammation. Acute cervicitis is mainly manifested by cervical swelling and cervical mucosal edema, often accompanied by acute vaginitis or acute endometritis. The main manifestations are increased vaginal discharge and mucus suppuration. Stimulation of vaginal discharge can cause vulvar itching and burning sensation. Symptoms such as sexual intercourse pain and lower abdominal pain may occur. If accompanied by urinary tract infection, urgency, frequent urination, urinary pain, etc.

3. If the infection is caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae, due to the influence of the paraurethral glands and vestibular glands, the urethral opening and vaginal opening mucosa may be congested, edematous, and have a large amount of purulent secretions. It is often accompanied by vaginitis and endometritis. Staphylococcus, streptococcus and other purulent infections can spread upwards and cause inflammation of the pelvic connective tissue.

4. The symptoms of acute cervicitis caused by Chlamydia trachomatis infection are often not obvious, or even asymptomatic. Increased vaginal discharge, dripping bleeding or urinary tract irritation are common symptoms.

5. Chronic cervicitis with increased leucorrhea. Chronic cervicitis may be asymptomatic. Sometimes increased leucorrhea may be the only symptom. The leucorrhea is light yellow, sometimes with blood, and may also be contact bleeding. Occasionally, the secretion stimulation may cause vulvar itching and discomfort. Lower abdominal or lumbosacral pain is a common symptom, which worsens during menstruation and defecation, and sexual pain may occur.
