What to do about hydatidiform mole

What to do if you have hydatidiform mole?

Hydatidiform mole requires comprehensive care, uterine curettage, hysterectomy, prevention of metastasis, and regular follow-up.

The specific contents are as follows:

1. Comprehensive care: Patients should pay attention to all aspects of physical conditioning, increase nutrition, improve the body's disease resistance, pay attention to good rest, do a good job of personal hygiene, avoid too much stress, and receive comprehensive and reasonable care to promote physical recovery.

2. Uterine curettage: If a hydatidiform mole is diagnosed, uterine curettage is required in a timely manner. Because the uterus can be cleaned once before the 12th week of pregnancy. If the uterus is larger than 12 weeks of pregnancy or it is difficult to scrape it at one time during the operation, it needs to be scraped again one week later. And a pathological examination is required after each scraping.

3. Hysterectomy: If the patient has high-risk factors, has no fertility requirements, and is close to menopause, a total hysterectomy can be performed, but both ovaries can be retained. Through treatment methods, recurrence is unlikely.

4. Prevent metastasis: When hydatidiform mole invades locally and metastasizes to distant places, the main high-risk factors include blood HCG levels exceeding 105 units per liter, patients over 40 years old with a history of repeated hydatidiform mole, and uterine volume significantly larger than the corresponding gestational week. These are all high-risk factors and emergency measures can be taken.

5. Regular follow-up: All patients with hydatidiform mole should be informed of regular follow-up. It is best to keep in touch with the hospital for a long time. More importantly, they should have regular follow-up within two years. The purpose is to detect malignant changes early, but sometimes there may be residual vesicular fetal masses. Patients are advised to take effective contraceptive measures for at least two years. Check once a month in the first six months. If there is irregular vaginal bleeding, hemoptysis, headache or other discomfort, go to the hospital for examination immediately.
