Subserosal uterine fibroids

Subserosal uterine fibroids

I believe everyone knows about uterine fibroids, but many people may not know much about subserosal uterine fibroids. In fact, subserosal fibroids are a type of uterine fibroids, and the incidence of this type of uterine fibroids is relatively high. Today we will introduce subserosal fibroids.

Subserous myoma: When the intramural myoma of the uterus grows to the serosa layer on the surface of the uterus, so that the surface of the myoma is only covered with a little muscle wall and serosa, it is called a subserous myoma. When the myoma continues to grow under the serosa and forms only one pedicle connected to the uterine wall, it is called a pedunculated myoma. Myomas grow on both sides of the uterus and in the broad ligaments on both sides of the uterus. Intraligamentary myoma, this type of myoma often compresses the nearby ureters, bladder and iliac blood vessels, causing corresponding symptoms and signs. Due to obstructed blood supply, the myoma pedicle breaks and falls off into the pelvic and abdominal cavity, and the tumor undergoes necrosis.

If the detached fibroid adheres to the adjacent organs such as the greater omentum and mesentery, thus obtaining blood supply, it is called parasitic myoma or migratory myoma. Subserosal myoma accounts for 20% to 30% of the total number of fibroids. Due to the protrusion of the fibroid, the uterus is enlarged, irregular in shape, uneven in surface, nodular, and pedicled subserosal myoma can touch any part of the uterus. It is a movable solid tumor. The broad ligament myoma is touched beside the uterus and has limited activity.

Although subserosal fibroids are only a type of uterine fibroids, they account for 20% to 30% of uterine fibroids. We should also pay full attention to subserosal uterine fibroids and then actively treat them.
