There are many patients who come to the gynecology clinic to see if they have abnormal menstruation. Most of them come because their menstruation has become less and darker. However, many patients with heavy menstruation or even anemia do not come to see a doctor or are unwilling to receive treatment. The reason why patients do not come to see a doctor or receive treatment is that they think heavy menstruation is normal and light menstruation is abnormal. What is normal menstruation? Most women have regular menstruation after puberty. A normal menstrual cycle means that it comes every 24 to 35 days, about 2-7 days each time, and the menstrual volume is about 20-60ml each time. If the menstrual volume exceeds 60ml, it is too much. If it exceeds 80ml, it is clinically diagnosed as menorrhagia. Moreover, if the monthly menstrual volume exceeds 80ml, the patient will definitely develop anemia if he does not receive anti-anemia treatment and does not take measures to reduce the menstrual volume. In addition to gastrointestinal diseases such as ulcerative diseases, the most common cause of anemia in a woman is menorrhagia. These patients often feel that their resistance is reduced and they are easily fatigued. In the long run, it will increase the burden on the heart and cause great harm to physical and mental health. The cause of menorrhagia may be related to gynecological diseases such as uterine fibroids, endometriosis, adenomyosis, and blood diseases such as idiopathic thrombocytopenia and taking anticoagulants. If no uterine or systemic diseases are found, it is diagnosed as idiopathic menorrhagia. Excessive menstruation is a common reason for gynecological hysterectomy, but there are many treatments for idiopathic excessive menstruation, such as taking antifibrinolytic drugs during menstruation, taking short-acting oral contraceptives, or placing a progestin-containing contraceptive device Mirena in the uterus to reduce menstrual volume. When conservative treatment is ineffective, surgical treatment can be considered. |
