How to treat ovarian cysts surgically

How are ovarian cysts treated surgically?

Ovarian cysts can be divided into ovarian chocolate cysts, simple cysts, ovarian epithelial benign tumors, and corpus luteum cysts. This disease can occur at any age, but it is more common in middle-aged women. Some patients with ovarian cysts may show clinical symptoms such as pelvic hemorrhage, menstrual disorders, increased leucorrhea, and leucorrhea odor. After patients develop this disease, some patients need surgical treatment. The following introduces the methods of surgical treatment.

1. Salpingo-oophorectomy: Salpingo-oophorectomy is suitable for some older women with ovarian cysts and is often used clinically for menopausal women or women over 45 years old.

2. Ovarian cystectomy: Ovarian cystectomy is generally used for younger female patients before menopause. If adhesions occur after ovarian cyst surgery, it is very likely to cause infertility. Therefore, patients need to be informed of this risk before surgery, and the impact on fertility should be weighed to avoid unnecessary trouble.

3. Laparoscopic surgery: Laparoscopic surgery has many advantages, such as less trauma, less impact on patients, faster postoperative recovery, and less surgical scars. In clinical practice, laparoscopic surgery is generally suitable for patients with smaller cysts.

4. Adnexectomy and total hysterectomy: If patients with ovarian cysts have severe systemic symptoms and cannot accept other treatments, adnexectomy and total hysterectomy can be considered. However, it is necessary to combat the symptoms of endocrine disorders caused by this and avoid surgery to aggravate the patient's menopausal symptoms.
