How to treat chocolate cyst

How to treat chocolate cyst

Chocolate cysts are also called ovarian endometriosis cysts. They are formed when the ectopic endometrium grows in the ovary. Repeated bleeding in the cysts causes a large amount of brown viscous liquid to accumulate, which looks like chocolate. Therefore, they are called chocolate cysts. Patients can be treated through daily care, drug intervention, surgery, etc.

Treatment of chocolate cysts:

1. Daily care: Patients should take a rest in their daily life and avoid eating spicy and irritating foods to avoid worsening the condition. They can also take a warm bath and apply hot compresses to the lower abdomen to help promote blood circulation and reduce pain symptoms.

2. Drug intervention: If the patient has mild abdominal pain or dysmenorrhea symptoms, he or she can take anti-inflammatory analgesics such as celecoxib capsules and acetaminophen tablets under the guidance of a doctor to relieve the symptoms. The patient can also take progesterone drugs such as medroxyprogesterone acetate dispersible tablets and megestrol acetate dispersible tablets for treatment as prescribed by the doctor.

3. Surgery: For patients with large chocolate cysts or those who are ineffective with drug treatment, surgical treatment can be considered. Laparoscopic surgery is usually used to introduce the camera and surgical tools into the abdominal cavity through a small incision to remove the cyst and preserve ovarian function.

Chocolate cyst precautions:

The treatment of chocolate cysts varies depending on the patient's condition, age, reproductive history and other factors, and needs to be selected according to the specific situation. During the treatment process, patients need to pay close attention to changes in symptoms and undergo regular checkups to evaluate the treatment effect.
