How can mothers who have had miscarriage or premature birth protect their babies?

Traditional culture also attaches great importance to keeping the fetus safe. There is a clear instruction in ancient times that during pregnancy, one should not move the bed randomly, nail the wall, or cut things. One should be careful not to be slapped on the shoulders to avoid disturbing the fetus or causing malformations. Modern medicine believes that complete bed rest is also beneficial and harmless. In addition, modern obstetricians believe that the purpose of keeping the fetus safe is to keep the fetus healthy and perfect. However, when the fetus has signs of developmental delay or malformation or the environment of the incubator outside is more favorable to the fetus than the environment inside the uterus (such as early rupture of water and the uterus has become purulent and inflamed), they will never blindly keep the fetus safe or force the fetus to stay. Nuclear medicine radioimmunoassay can randomly test human chorionic gonadotropin and estriol, plus ultrasound series tracking, amniotic fluid analysis of amniocentesis, and placental function test of fetal monitors. There are many instruments that can be used to understand the condition of the fetus and the degree of development and growth. Modern obstetrics should be more active and proactive in assisting the normal development and growth of the fetus and monitoring the health of the fetus.

Generally, fetal death occurs within 28 weeks of pregnancy, or when the fetus weighs less than 1,000 grams, which is called miscarriage. The spontaneous abortion rate can be as high as 10% to 15%, and 80% of them are caused by imperfect fertilized eggs. The other 15% are maternal factors such as systemic diseases (infectious diseases, endocrine imbalance, cardiovascular or kidney disease), protein and vitamin deficiency, blood type incompatibility, drug abuse, uterine factors (such as tumors, abnormal position, congenital abnormalities, uterine cavity adhesions, incomplete cervical occlusion or uterine restriction) and luteal insufficiency. Of course, the objects of fetal preservation are limited to miscarriage caused by maternal factors, and among them, the early "luteal insufficiency" and the mid-term "cervical insufficiency" are the most important.

Premature babies are those whose birth weight is less than 2500 grams before 38 weeks of pregnancy. One fifth of the causes of premature birth are early rupture of water, and the others are obstetric complications, such as toxemia, multiple births, placenta previa, uterine cavity abnormalities and sexual intercourse (prostaglandins in semen can stimulate uterine contractions). Because 3/4 of perinatal mortality and morbidity are caused by premature babies or low birth weight. Therefore, the purpose of tocolysis is to place the fetus as far as possible until it matures. Tocolysis drugs have large adverse reactions, especially when taken in large doses, pregnant women will feel uncomfortable, including nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal discomfort, headache, dizziness, hypotension, facial flushing, etc. While maintaining the fetus, it is still very important to monitor the health of the fetus by using biochemical tests for estriol or fetal tone monitoring. Obstetricians must always judge "the risk of death of the fetus if it continues to stay in the uterus."

Whether it is miscarriage or premature birth, trusting the doctor and cooperating with the doctor's treatment is the most important thing, especially the following things should be paid special attention to:

① If bleeding occurs within 3 months of pregnancy, the most important thing is to do an ultrasound examination to determine the development of the embryo. Some people think that ultrasound is harmful to the fetus or even kills the fetus, which is too groundless.

② The pregnancy-maintaining injection, especially the supply of natural progesterone in the first 3 months, will not only not cause deformities, but will prevent bleeding due to the progesterone supplement, thus preventing organ disorders and ensuring the health of the fetus.

③ Completely resting in bed without leaving the bed, reaching out for food when needed, and even urinating and defecating by the bed, is the correct way to keep the fetus safe. As for sexual intercourse in early pregnancy, in addition to touching the uterus, it can also cause uterine spasms during orgasm. Prostaglandins in semen can also cause uterine contractions, so it should be prohibited.
