Classification of causes of irregular menstruation There are 7 common classifications of irregular menstruation

Irregular menstruation is a general term for various diseases. Menstrual changes are mainly caused by various reasons, such as abnormal menstrual cycle, abnormal menstrual volume, etc. There are also some abnormal symptoms before and after menstruation. This phenomenon is called irregular menstruation.

There are two reasons for irregular menstruation:

1. Neuroendocrine dysfunction: mainly due to instability or defect in the function of the brain-pituitary-ovarian axis, that is, menstrual disorders.

2. Organic diseases or drugs: including local inflammation, tumors, developmental abnormalities, malnutrition, intracranial diseases, thyroid and adrenal cortex dysfunction, diabetes, Sheehan's disease and other endocrine dysfunctions; liver disease, blood disease, etc. Using drugs to treat mental illness; endocrine preparations or intrauterine contraceptive devices may cause irregular menstruation. Some professions such as long-distance runners are prone to amenorrhea. In addition, some abnormal bleeding during pregnancy is often mistaken for irregular menstruation.

The clinical diagnosis of neuroendocrine dysfunction must exclude the above organic causes.

Classification of irregular menstruation

■ Oligomenorrhea: Menstruation occurs more than once every 40 days, and the menstrual volume is too small. ■ Frequent menstruation: Menstruation is less than 21 days, and the menstrual volume is too large. ■ Excessive menstruation: refers to excessive menstruation or menstruation that is longer than normal. ■ Irregular menstruation: refers to irregular menstrual cycles and small menstrual volume. ■ Irregular menorrhagia: refers to irregular menstrual cycles accompanied by excessive menstrual volume and prolonged menstrual period. ■ Oligomenorrhea: refers to regular menstrual cycles, but only reduced menstrual volume. ■ Intermenstrual bleeding: refers to a small amount of uterine bleeding between menstruation, often accompanied by ovulation and ovulation pain.
