What are the abortion examination items? There are these 5 types

Regardless of the cause of miscarriage, women should do a post-abortion check-up. On the one hand, the check-up can tell what caused the miscarriage; on the other hand, it is to check the body's health recovery. The main check-up items include routine gynecological and obstetric examination, B-ultrasound, vaginal cytology, basal body temperature, hormone measurement, etc.

Women may have miscarriages for various reasons after becoming pregnant, or because of an unexpected pregnancy, they have to have an abortion. Regardless of the circumstances that lead to the miscarriage, relevant examinations need to be done after the operation. However, you may not know much about the specific examination items. So, let's take a look at what the miscarriage examination items are.
Abortion examination items: routine gynecological and obstetric examination, B-ultrasound, vaginal cytology examination, basal body temperature, hormone measurement, etc.
1. B-ultrasound
Generally, the gestational sac can be seen at 5-6 weeks of pregnancy, and the embryo bud can be seen at 6-7 weeks of pregnancy. Transvaginal probe is earlier than transabdominal probe. When there are no clinical signs of miscarriage, the withered fertilized egg can be found by ultrasound examination. The gestational sac>20mm without yolk sac or the gestational sac>25mm without embryo bud is a withered fertilized egg. The image only shows a large gestational sac with no echo area.
2. Vaginal Cytology
1. The appearance of chorionic syncytial cells in smears tends to cause miscarriage. Chorionic syncytial cells are cell clusters of varying sizes, with alkaline cytoplasm, containing different numbers of dark-stained large nuclei, and are often surrounded by red and white blood cells.
2. Nuclear pyknosis index: An increase in the nuclear pyknosis index in vaginal smears during pregnancy indicates progesterone deficiency. The reasons are: first, ovarian corpus luteum insufficiency, resulting in poor development of the endometrium and decidua, thus causing defects in the trophoblast; second, defects in the trophoblast itself.
3. Cervical mucus crystallization
Estrogen can produce cervical mucus crystallization, while progesterone has an inhibitory effect on crystallization. Therefore, checking cervical mucus crystallization during pregnancy can predict the prognosis of miscarriage.
4. Basal body temperature
In early pregnancy, the high temperature curve should be maintained for about 16 weeks and gradually return to normal. If the basal body temperature is the same as that of a normal pregnancy when there is a sign of miscarriage, the prognosis is good. If it is lower than that of a normal pregnancy, the prognosis is poor.
5. Hormone measurement
For miscarriage caused by endocrine abnormalities, hormones can be measured according to different situations. For example, if luteal insufficiency is suspected, pregnanediol can be measured to observe the dynamic changes and choose appropriate treatment methods.
