Xie Mingzhe, former vice president of Taipei Medical University and professor of the Department of Health and Nutrition, pointed out that consuming 25 grams of soy protein a day, combined with a low-saturated fat and low-cholesterol diet, can reduce the risk of heart disease, because soybeans contain isoflavones, which can lower the cholesterol content in the human body and thus prevent heart disease. Studies have found that eating soy foods can help reduce the risk of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
