How much does it cost to have an abortion?

Not every baby is an angel. For some women who are pregnant unexpectedly or do not want the child for various reasons, abortion becomes an inevitable means. Medical abortion is also an important option. However, many people do not know much about the process of medical abortion. Only by truly understanding the abortion process can the abortion be carried out more smoothly.

Of course, for women who are preparing to have an abortion, in addition to understanding the process of medical abortion, it is more important to be aware of their own physical condition, consult a doctor before the abortion, and go to a regular hospital for the abortion.

Choose a reliable hospital. According to current national regulations, outpatient medical abortion is limited to early pregnancy within 49 days of amenorrhea (calculated from the first day of the last menstrual period) and the size of the uterus is consistent with the number of days of amenorrhea. Most regular hospitals also require women to undergo B-ultrasound examination before taking the medicine to rule out ectopic pregnancy (ectopic pregnancy is an important contraindication for medical abortion) and verify the gestational age. After taking the medicine (misoprostol), pregnant women must stay in the hospital for observation for 4-6 hours, and medical staff will help determine whether the fetal sac is expelled. If the fetal sac is not expelled on the same day, it should be re-examined after 1 week. If heavy bleeding occurs, it may be an incomplete abortion and emergency curettage is required, so the medical institution performing medical abortion must have curettage and rescue conditions. If the medical place you visit does not have the above equipment, regulations and measures, for safety reasons, it is better to say "goodbye" to it as soon as possible. The total cost is about 200 yuan.

The whole process of taking medicine: There are two main drugs used for medical abortion in China, namely mifepristone and misoprostol. The method of taking medicine in most hospitals is: take mifepristone on an empty stomach for two consecutive days (the dosage is determined by the doctor), and it is best to fast for 1 hour after taking the medicine. On the morning of the third day, take misoprostol on an empty stomach again.

Reaction after taking the medicine When taking mifepristone, the adverse reaction is mild and most women do not feel anything. You can go home after taking the medicine and go to work as usual. A few people may experience mild dizziness, abdominal pain, and a small amount of vaginal bleeding (bleeding or not does not affect the abortion effect). After taking misoprostol, about 70% of people will expel the fetal sac within 4-6 hours. During this period, you must stay in the hospital and the doctor will observe the bleeding, abdominal pain and discharge during this period. Because the waiting time is long, you can bring some food and newspapers to the hospital, and it is best to prepare some sanitary napkins.

What does the discharge look like? The gestational sac that is discharged with the blood is pink, fleshy tissue, and sometimes a small blister can be seen in it. If the gestational sac is not discharged during the observation period in the hospital, pay attention to the vaginal discharge after returning home. At this time, pay special attention to distinguishing it from blood clots (blood clots are dark purple or black red, uniform and soft in texture). After 1 week, take the discharge to the hospital for a reexamination. A small number of women (4%-5%) will discharge the gestational sac by taking mifepristone alone. If there is not much bleeding, you can use a clean small bottle to hold and retain the discharge and take it to the hospital for examination on the third day (the original appointment day for taking misoprostol). If there is a lot of bleeding, you should immediately take the discharge to the hospital for emergency treatment.

Bleeding after abortion Women who undergo medical abortion generally have longer vaginal bleeding after abortion than those who undergo curettage. If the menstruation is only about 35 days, the bleeding is generally less. If the menstruation is more, the bleeding time will also be longer. In general, the average bleeding days are 14-18 days. Therefore, you should return to the hospital for a checkup about 2 weeks after abortion. If the bleeding continues for 3 weeks, or the bleeding is heavy and accompanied by blood clots, you should do a curettage in time to avoid leaving sequelae and affecting future pregnancy.

So for female friends, medical abortion is also very harmful to the body. Therefore, for female friends, after understanding the process of medical abortion and accepting the abortion, what they need to do is to get enough rest, and take good care of their diet to allow the body to recover as soon as possible.
