What is bacterial vaginosis

What is bacterial vaginosis? This is a disease caused by an increase in vaginal Gardnerella and various microorganisms. A large number of anaerobic bacteria replace the normal lactobacilli, leading to an imbalance in the microecological balance in the vagina and increased vaginal secretions. Let's take a look at what kind of disease it is.

Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a syndrome caused by the increase of vaginal Gardnerella and various microorganisms, and the replacement of normal lactobacilli by a large number of anaerobic bacteria, which leads to an imbalance of the microecological balance in the vagina, increased vaginal discharge, fishy leucorrhea, and vulvar itching and burning. It can be divided into Haemophilus vaginitis, Corynebacterium vaginitis, anaerobic vaginitis, Gardnerella vaginitis, etc.

The disease can also be transmitted through sexual contact, and the incidence rate is higher among people with promiscuous sexual relationships. A smear examination of secretions can reveal a large number of pus balls and find the pathogenic bacteria. Clinical manifestations: varying degrees of burning sensation in the vulva, and some patients experience pain during sexual intercourse. Very few patients experience lower abdominal pain, difficulty in sexual intercourse, and abnormal urination. The vaginal mucosal epithelium does not show obvious congestion when the disease occurs.

1. Indirect contact infection

Contact with toilets, bathtubs, bath seats, towels in public toilets that are contaminated with bacteria, and using unclean toilet paper can cause infection.

2. Sexual transmission

It is one of the causes of the disease. At least 10% of men with symptoms on the female side have bacterial urethritis.

3. Taking large amounts of antibiotics

Antibiotics change the vaginal microenvironment, causing pathogenic bacterial pathogens to multiply and leading to localized bacterial vaginosis.

4. Excessive attention to hygiene

In order to maintain hygiene, some women often use medicated washes to irrigate the vagina, which can easily destroy the acid-base environment of the vagina and make it easy to get bacterial vaginitis.
