Can hyperprolactinemia be cured by traditional Chinese medicine?

Hyperprolactinemia is one of the causes of female infertility, affecting women's normal life and fertility, and causing serious troubles to many women. Traditional Chinese medicine has a good effect in treating hyperprolactinemia. If it is treated in time after the disease occurs, the cure rate is generally relatively high.

Experts point out that prolactin (PRL) is a protein hormone secreted by the pituitary gland, which mainly stimulates the growth of breast tissue and the production of milk; hyperprolactinemia refers to a syndrome in which the PRL level in the blood is elevated due to dysfunction of the gonadal axis, causing amenorrhea, lactation and a series of metabolic changes in the body. To treat infertility caused by hyperprolactinemia, we must start with hyperprolactinemia.

According to TCM theory, hyperprolactinemia is mostly caused by liver depression and qi stagnation, liver and kidney deficiency, spleen deficiency and phlegm obstruction. Therefore, treatment should be based on the following syndrome differentiation and treatment:

1. Treatment of symptoms of spleen deficiency and phlegm obstruction: If one is obese, or overeats sorghum and rich foods, or has an irregular diet, or is overthinking and overworked, the spleen and stomach will be damaged. The spleen is responsible for transportation and transformation, and spleen deficiency causes water and dampness to accumulate, which form phlegm. The phlegm blocks the Qi and meridians, causing Chong and Ren disorders and leading to late menstruation, amenorrhea, and even infertility. The treatment starts with: spleen deficiency cannot absorb blood and return to the meridians, qi and blood are disordered, and cannot flow down to Chong and Ren. Instead, they go up to the breasts and turn into milk, causing milk overflow.

2. Treatment of symptoms of liver and kidney deficiency: The liver stores blood, the kidney governs water and stores essence. The liver and kidney have the same origin, and essence and blood are generated from each other. Kidney deficiency leads to liver blood deficiency, Chong and Ren meridians fail to be filled, and the sea of blood is insufficient, resulting in scanty menstruation, amenorrhea and infertility. The treatment starts with: liver and kidney deficiency, the liver fails to be nourished, and the function of dredging and purging fails, resulting in disorder of qi and blood, and galactorrhea caused by the liver qi going up to the breast.

3. Treatment of symptoms of liver depression and qi stagnation The liver stores blood and is responsible for dispersing qi. It likes to be smooth and unrestrained. The nipple belongs to the liver, and milk is produced from blood. Treatment start: Due to worry, anger, and emotional distress, liver qi is stagnant, and dispersing qi is abnormal, qi and blood are disordered, and blood does not flow normally. It flows into the sea of blood and becomes menstrual fluid, which in turn goes up with liver qi and becomes milk in the breast, leading to milk overflow, scanty menstruation, amenorrhea and infertility.
