How does traditional Chinese medicine cure cervical warts?

1. Damp-heat syndrome

The syndrome of damp-heat descending may be accompanied by moist and red skin lesions around the anus, or prepuce is too long, or there is excessive leucorrhea or other skin diseases. It is often accompanied by bitter taste in the mouth, sticky mouth, thirst and dislike of drinking water, sticky and unsmooth stool, yellow urine, red tongue, yellow greasy fur, and stringy pulse. This is due to the descending of damp-heat in the liver and gallbladder, which flows into the genitals along the meridians. The treatment should be to clear damp-heat, detoxify and eliminate warts. The prescription is as follows: Atractylodes lancea 10g, Phellodendron chinense 10g, Raw Coix Seed 30g, Smilax glabra 30g, Cortex Moutan 10g, Tongcao 10g, Alisma orientalis 10g, and Portulaca oleracea 30g.

In the formula, Atractylodes lancea and Phellodendron chinense clear damp-heat in the lower part of the body; Raw Coix Seed strengthens the spleen and removes dampness, and has antiviral function; Smilax glabra, Cortex Moutan, Smilax glabra, Alisma orientalis, and Purslane are used to detoxify and remove dampness, and to promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis. If the damp-heat is severe, 10g of Gentiana scabra can be added; if the stool is blocked, 10g of Aloe vera can be added.

2. External infection and toxicity

It is common for warts to grow rapidly, or be combined with syphilis, gonorrhea, and a clear history of unclean sexual intercourse. Subjective symptoms are often mild or absent, and the tongue and pulse may be normal. This is due to external infection of toxic evils, stagnation of toxic qi, so the warts grow rapidly. Treatment should be heat-clearing and detoxification, and the commonly used prescriptions are: 60g of purslane, 15g of Patrinia scabra, 15g of Lithospermum officinale, 15g of Isatis indigo leaf, and 15g of Equisetum arvense.

In the prescription, purslane is the main drug, clearing away heat and detoxifying; combined with Patrinia, Lithospermum, Folium Isatidis, and Equisetum arvense, it strengthens the effects of clearing heat and detoxifying, promoting blood circulation and dispersing nodules. If the skin lesions are dark or the course of the disease is long, add honeycomb, Salvia miltiorrhiza, safflower and other blood stasis-promoting products.

3. Blood stasis syndrome

Seen in patients with dark red or dark brown skin lesions, slow growth, prolonged duration, or pain. The tongue is dull, the coating is thin and white, and the pulse is thin and astringent. This is due to the accumulation of toxic evil for a long time, blocking the Qi mechanism, causing Qi and blood stasis. The treatment should be to regulate Qi and activate blood circulation, remove blood stasis and disperse stagnation. The commonly used prescription is Taohong Siwu Decoction with modifications: peach kernel 10g, safflower 10g, Chuanxiong 10g, angelica 10g, white peony 10g, salvia miltiorrhiza 10g, bee nest 10g, bupleurum 10g, and Prunella vulgaris 30g.

The formula contains peach kernel, safflower, Chuanxiong, angelica, salvia miltiorrhiza, and beehive to promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis; bupleurum to soothe the liver and regulate qi, leading the medicine directly to the affected area; and herbaceous prunella vulgaris to clear away heat and detoxify, soften and disperse nodules. If the patient is qi-deficient, 30g of raw astragalus can be added to replenish qi and detoxify, and improve the body's immunity; if the warts are hard, 30g of raw dragon bone and oyster shell can be added to soften and disperse nodules.
