How to treat cervical warts

How to treat cervical warts

As we all know, cervical warts can cause great harm to patients and endanger their health, especially for women. This is especially true for cervical warts in women. The cervix is a common site for cervical warts and will also show typical symptoms. The virus of this disease may also infect the cervix and cause cervicitis. Most people only pay attention to the treatment of obvious warts on the vulva and do not pay attention to the overall situation, and thus ignore the harm caused by the virus invading the cervix. Therefore, the treatment method of cervical warts in women is also particularly important.

Here are some common treatment methods:

1. Cryotherapy

This is a commonly used treatment method in dermatology. It uses liquid nitrogen or carbon dioxide dry ice to freeze skin lesions. Skin lesions have a large number of small blood vessels and proliferate rapidly. Therefore, the freezing method can freeze the cervical warts and form a high degree of local edema of the tissue, thereby destroying the warts. The biggest advantage of cryotherapy is that it leaves no local traces, and the cure rate is about 70%. It can be used by spray method or direct contact method. It is suitable for flat and smaller warts. Generally, it is frozen once a week for 2 to 3 times in a row.

2. Laser treatment

Laser treatment is a commonly used method for treating cervical warts in dermatology and venereology. It is characterized by rapid effectiveness. The warts can fall off at the time of treatment. Carbon dioxide laser is commonly used to burn the warts. Generally, the warts can fall off in one treatment. However, because the laser beam is too concentrated, laser treatment is only suitable for cervical warts that are not too large. If the warts are large, laser treatment is likely to cause recurrence.

3. Microwave therapy

Microwave therapy is a treatment method that has emerged since the 1990s. Its principle is to use the high-frequency vibration of microwaves to evaporate the water inside the warts, causing them to necrotize and fall off. The characteristics of microwave therapy are that the warts are completely destroyed and are not prone to recurrence, but the wounds recover slowly and are prone to secondary infection. Therefore, microwave therapy is particularly suitable for treating large, isolated, and scattered cervical warts.

4. Electrocautery

This is an older treatment method. In the past, dermatologists often used high-frequency electric knives or electric soldering irons to burn common warts, moles, and other skin growths. It is characterized by simple operation and quick results. The high-frequency electric knife can directly remove and dry the warts.

5. Surgical treatment

Surgical excision is generally not recommended for cervical warts, because after surgical treatment, cervical warts are prone to recurrence, making the treatment fail. However, surgical excision can be considered for larger warts with pedicles. For some patients, cervical warts grow too quickly or are as large as cauliflower, which makes other treatments very difficult, so surgical treatment can be considered. To prevent recurrence, other treatments should be combined after surgery.
