Are cervical warts contagious?

Are cervical warts contagious?

When we are healthy, no one will realize the importance of health, but when our body is tortured by cervical warts, we will realize the importance of health. Cervical warts are a highly contagious sexually transmitted disease. Everyone can feel its harm, so we must take preventive measures in life to keep ourselves away from cervical warts completely.

What are the transmission routes of cervical warts?

1. Mother-to-child transmission

Pregnant women with cervical warts, especially those with no obvious clinical symptoms but viral infection in the cervix, will have viruses in their reproductive tract. During delivery, the fetus passes through the birth canal, leading to viral infection of the newborn and causing cervical warts in infants and young children.

2. Smoke transmission of cervical warts

Some studies have found that HPV is present in the smoke produced when using laser to treat cervical warts, which suggests that HPV-containing smoke may become a transmission route for HPV and cause cervical warts.

3. Autoinoculation of cervical warts

Clinically, patients with external genital or anal cervical warts are found to have cervical warts on their hands or through their hands, which are then transmitted to the skin and mucous membranes of other parts of the body. A foreign report reported a 5-year-old boy with anal cervical warts, who later developed wart-like lesions on his fingers, and the same subtype of HPV was found in the wart tissue around the anus and fingers, suggesting that it may be caused by self-inoculation. Observations such as these further prove that genital cervical warts can be transmitted by hand-genital contact.

4. Direct contact transmission

This is the main transmission route. When having sex with a patient with cervical warts, the warts growing on the external genitalia are easily scratched because they are protruding and brittle. The warts and the virus in the epidermal tissue fall off and are inoculated on the genitals of the sexual partner, causing human papillomavirus infection and disease. Therefore, cervical warts are easy to occur in people with promiscuous sexual relationships.
