Will dysmenorrhea be passed down to the next generation?

Many female friends have experienced dysmenorrhea, and many women with dysmenorrhea have found that their mothers have also experienced dysmenorrhea. This has attracted their attention. Is dysmenorrhea hereditary? Will their daughters also have to endure such pain in the future?

In fact, dysmenorrhea is not necessarily hereditary.

Dysmenorrhea is divided into primary and secondary. The causes of primary dysmenorrhea are related to mental factors, unstable sex hormones, and excessive prostaglandins; secondary dysmenorrhea is secondary to certain diseases, which have little to do with genetics.

However, it should be noted that if the mother has dysmenorrhea, the probability of the daughter suffering from dysmenorrhea will be greatly increased. For example, if the mother has endometriosis, the probability of the daughter suffering from endometriosis will be 7 times higher than that of the general population. This is mainly because the daughter and the mother have similar living environments and living habits, which will lead to the same tendency to develop the disease. In addition, there is the factor of mental tension, but whether the real dysmenorrhea is related to genetics has not been proven.

Dysmenorrhea will certainly cause certain harm, so dysmenorrhea must be treated in time and thoroughly. The general treatment of dysmenorrhea patients is to provide necessary explanations to patients, especially for adolescent girls. Explain the relevant basic physiological knowledge, explain that "menstruation" is a normal physiological phenomenon, help patients dispel their concerns and build confidence. During dysmenorrhea, you can rest in bed or apply hot compresses to the lower abdomen. Pay attention to menstrual hygiene. You can also take general non-specific analgesics, such as salicylates, which have the effect of reducing fever and relieving pain.
