Causes of irregular menstruation in women after abortion

Some women may experience irregular menstruation after abortion, and there are several reasons for this.

1. Excessive mental stress and anxiety

Before abortion, women suffer from a heavy mental burden due to their fear of surgery or the inability to become pregnant and give birth normally. Some young women, in particular, feel ashamed and worried about getting pregnant before marriage, and they are still unable to let go of the worry for a long time after the surgery, which ultimately leads to the adverse consequence of irregular menstruation in women after abortion.

2. Endocrine changes

Due to individual differences among women, some women's endocrine systems will undergo certain changes after abortion. The level of chorionic gonadotropin will drop suddenly, making the ovaries unresponsive to the gonadotropin from the anterior pituitary gland for a short period of time, causing the endometrium to be unable to change according to the normal cycle, and eventually causing irregular menstruation.

3. Frequent flow of people

Multiple abortions within a few years, or even multiple abortions within a year for some women, will cause the endometrium to be scraped very thin and unable to recover in a short period of time, leading to irregular menstruation. If the basal layer of the endometrium is completely damaged, permanent amenorrhea will occur; if the endometrium is partially damaged, temporary amenorrhea will occur.

4. Having sex or taking a bath too soon after surgery

Improper care after abortion, especially premature sexual intercourse or taking a bath in a tub, can easily lead to bacteria invading the vagina and uterus, causing uterine infection and ultimately irregular menstruation.
