Causes of Trichomonas vaginitis

Causes of Trichomonas vaginitis

Trichomonas vaginitis is relatively common in clinical practice. It is a disease caused by Trichomonas vaginalis. The causes of the disease are as follows.

1. Increased vaginal pH

An increase in vaginal pH is a major cause of Trichomonas vaginitis, especially before and after menstruation. If care is not taken properly, it is likely to cause an increase in vaginal pH. The pH value in the vagina itself will also increase slightly after menstruation. Trichomonas are hematuria and alkali-resistant, and cannot survive in a weakly acidic environment. However, in a weakly alkaline environment, their growth and reproduction rate will increase greatly, and they can dissolve the lactate iron in the vaginal epithelial cells, facilitating the onset of vaginal inflammation.

2. Use of contraceptive drugs

Long-term use of contraceptive pills or contraceptive creams will not only kill a large number of sperm, but also cause certain toxic effects on the lactobacilli in the normal vaginal flora, creating opportunities for the growth and reproduction of Trichomonas.

3. Application of antibiotics

Taking multiple broad-spectrum antibiotics in large quantities in the short term or for a long time will destroy the bacterial environment in the vagina, kill or inhibit the activity of lactobacilli, causing them to lose their local defense function, and thus induce the onset of Trichomonas vaginitis.

4. Abnormal physiological lesions

The closure of the vaginal opening and the close contact between the anterior and posterior walls of the vagina can cause proliferation and keratinization of vaginal epithelial cells under the influence of estrogen, which can destroy the acid-base balance in the vagina, greatly reduce the natural defense function of the vagina, and increase the incidence of Trichomonas vaginitis.
