Comparison of treatments for trichomoniasis and bacterial vaginosis

According to the various causes of vaginitis, it can be divided into many types. The treatment methods for different types of vaginitis are also very different.

1. Trichomonas vaginitis

The treatment methods of Trichomonas vaginitis are mainly divided into two aspects: systemic medication, which aims to completely eliminate Trichomonas. Because Trichomonas infection often involves the urogenital system and intestines, it is not easy to completely eliminate it with simple local medication. Therefore, systemic medication is used, such as taking metronidazole orally on time and in moderation, which can not only achieve better therapeutic effects but also avoid greater drug toxicity; local medication is aimed at effective symptomatic treatment, such as putting fine metronidazole powder into the vagina every night for local anti-inflammatory treatment.

It should be noted that during the treatment of Trichomonas vaginitis, the sexual partner should also be treated. Otherwise, even if the inflammation of the woman subsides, the partner may bring Trichomonas into the woman's vagina in the future during sexual intercourse. In addition, during the treatment period, sexual intercourse should be avoided or condoms should be used. The underwear and towels used in daily life should be boiled and disinfected or soaked in disinfectants and used by one person only to eliminate the residual pathogens and avoid repeated infection.

2. Bacterial vaginosis

The treatment of bacterial vaginitis is also divided into two aspects: systemic medication and local medication. Systemic medication often uses metronidazole or clindamycin to kill bacteria and reduce inflammation; local medication often uses clindamycin ointment to apply to the vagina.
