Treatment of dysmenorrhea due to uterine coldness

Treatment of dysmenorrhea due to uterine coldness

Qingcheng is just 20 years old this year, but she has been suffering from dysmenorrhea for nearly 4 years. At first, the elders said that dysmenorrhea does not need treatment and will heal itself after marriage and childbirth. Therefore, Qingcheng has been enduring it.

But in recent months, Qingcheng found it increasingly unbearable. Every time her menstruation came, she would feel severe pain in her lower abdomen, which could not be relieved no matter what she tried. She even began to feel pain and discomfort in her waist. In addition, her menstrual flow was heavy, dark in color, mixed with blood clots and mucous membrane-like secretions. During her menstruation, she would also feel breast pain, chills, poor appetite and fatigue.

Qingcheng was tortured by these symptoms and finally made up her mind to go to the hospital for treatment. The doctor diagnosed that Qingcheng had a dark red tongue, thin white fur, and a deep and stringy pulse, which was caused by liver depression and qi stagnation, and Chong and Ren meridians deficiency and cold dysmenorrhea. The treatment should be based on the principles of soothing the liver and regulating qi, warming the meridians and relieving pain, and promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis.

Prescription composition: Chinese Angelica, Chuanxiong, Rehmannia glutinosa, White Peony Root, Ejiao (melted and mixed), Evodia rutaecarpa, Cyperus rotundus, Linderae striata, Astragalus, Cinnamon (added later), Amber powder (taken with water), Corydalis, Bupleurum, Rose, Daidaihua, Cyathula officinalis, Sanguisorba officinalis, Cinnamon twig, Roasted ginger charcoal. 4 doses in total. 1 dose per day, decoct in water, take warm in 2 doses, and tell Qingcheng to avoid eating raw or cold food during menstruation.

At the same time, acupuncture is performed: below the 17th vertebra, Sanyinjiao, Taichong, with the needles retained for 30 minutes, once a day.

Qingcheng came for follow-up three days before each menstruation according to the doctor's instructions. The doctor then adjusted the prescription according to her condition in a timely manner. She took the medicine for one week each time and combined it with acupuncture treatment three days before her menstruation. After four menstrual cycles, Qingcheng finally felt no abdominal pain when her fifth menstrual cycle came, and her menstrual volume and blood color returned to normal.
