Emergency contraceptive pills can cause ovarian cysts

Xiaobai and Xiaoqing are both young people with ideals and ambitions. As soon as they graduated, they came to the big city of their dreams. Although they were drifting hard, they still felt that a better life was not far away. The two of them were in love and naturally lived together. Because they were still young, they didn't want to get married and have children too early, so they were always cautious about contraception. Although Xiaobai used condoms every time, Xiaoqing insisted on taking contraceptives. Over time, Xiaobai no longer needed condoms, and contraception depended entirely on Xiaoqing taking pills. Later, Xiaoqing was promoted to department manager due to her outstanding work. Both of them were extremely happy, and naturally they had to make love. It happened that Xiaoqing's contraceptives were gone, and she took emergency contraceptives the next day, but she was still worried. So in the next month, Xiaoqing used emergency contraceptives 5 times in a row. I don't know if she was really infected or because of nervousness. Xiaoqing's menstruation was late, but there was no sign of pregnancy when tested with test strips. It was almost two months before she went to the obstetrics and gynecology department of the hospital for treatment. Examination revealed that she had bilateral ovarian cysts. After inquiring about her medical history, the doctor learned that Xiaoqing had been using oral contraceptives for many years and also frequently took emergency contraceptives. The doctor told Xiaoqing that the ovarian cysts might have been caused by commonly used contraceptives.

Emergency contraception refers to a contraceptive method used to prevent pregnancy within a period of time after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure. Taking emergency contraceptive pills is the most commonly used method. However, it should be noted that the dosage of emergency contraceptive pills once is equivalent to the dosage of regular contraceptive pills for 8 days. It cannot be reused in a short period of time and generally should not be used more than 2 to 3 times a year. Taking emergency contraceptive pills multiple times can cause great harm to the body, such as endocrine disorders, menstrual disorders, and can also induce ovarian cysts and even lead to female infertility.
