How to differentiate metrorrhagia (dysfunctional uterine bleeding) from other diseases?

Xiaoqin's menstruation has been a little irregular recently. It often lasts for a long time, and the amount of blood is very large, which makes her a little dizzy. Her husband was afraid that Xiaoqin was sick, so he took her to a nearby small hospital for treatment. After examination, the doctor said that Xiaoqin had red discharge. This disease name made Xiaoqin and her husband dizzy. They didn't know what the disease was. The doctor didn't explain much, but just prescribed some hemostatic drugs for Xiaoqin. Xiaoqin took the medicine after returning home, but she still felt bad, the bleeding didn't stop, and her body became weaker and weaker. So she quickly changed hospitals, and the test results showed metrorrhagia. This made Xiaoqin feel a little overwhelmed. One hospital said it was red discharge, and the other said it was metrorrhagia. What kind of disease is this?

In TCM diagnosis, metrorrhagia (functional uterine bleeding) also needs to be differentiated from vaginal bleeding caused by fetal leakage, ectopic pregnancy, postpartum disease, red discharge, scars, trauma, etc. Red discharge is mucus with blood, which is seen in the premenstrual period, and the patient's menstruation is mostly normal. For patients suspected of pregnancy bleeding, the medical history should be inquired and relevant pregnancy diagnostic tests should be performed before a clear diagnosis can be made. Postpartum hemorrhage is vaginal bleeding that occurs in the puerperium after the fetus is delivered, which can be differentiated based on the medical history and the onset period. Bleeding from lumps and masses often has symptoms that can be checked, and bleeding from genital trauma can be inquired about the history of trauma, which is generally not difficult to distinguish. However, the differentiation of gynecological blood syndrome is sometimes more difficult, and relevant tests are still needed when necessary to assist in the diagnosis of metrorrhagia.
