What are the types of uterine fibroids?

There are many types of uterine fibroids. Generally, the following are relatively benign fibroids. I have listed them briefly here and hope it will be helpful to you.

(1) Cell-rich leiomyoma: Its clinical manifestations and gross appearance are no different from those of common leiomyoma. It is one of the most common types of uterine fibroids.

(2) High-mitotic-number leiomyoma: It is different from common uterine leiomyoma in that it has more mitotic figures under the microscope.

(3) Bizarre leiomyoma or atypical leiomyoma: The clinical manifestations and gross specimens are no different from those of ordinary leiomyoma, only the microscopic manifestations are different.

(4) Vascular leiomyoma: The tumor looks like an ordinary leiomyoma during macroscopic examination, and the cut surface is red.

(5) Epithelioid leiomyoma: This is a rare uterine fibroid. The tumor cells lose the spindle shape of ordinary leiomyoma cells and become round or polygonal. They are arranged in groups or cords similar to epithelial cells, hence the name.

(6) Intravenous leiomyoma: It is extremely rare. It is a tumor that grows from uterine fibroids into blood vessels or from the smooth muscle tissue of the blood vessel wall proliferates and then protrudes into the lumen. In addition to veins, lymphatic vessels can also be affected, so it is also called intravascular leiomyoma.

(7) Disseminated peritoneal leiomyomatosis: It is relatively rare, but has been reported in China in recent years.

(8) Benign metastatic leiomyoma: Patients with uterine leiomyoma have lung or lymph node metastasis, which is not a common type of uterine leiomyoma.

I hope the above information about the types of uterine fibroids is helpful to you and I wish you a speedy recovery! If you have any other questions, please consult online experts for details.
