Cervical hypertrophy needs to be checked to determine the cause and actively treated. Delay may cause cervicitis, infertility or cervical cancer. Cervical hypertrophy is often caused by chronic cervicitis, hormone imbalance or birth injury. Treatment includes medication, physical therapy and surgery. 1Chronic cervicitis is a common cause of cervical hypertrophy. Repeated inflammation leads to hyperplasia of cervical tissue. Early detection of cervicitis can eliminate inflammation through antibiotic treatment. Commonly used drugs include cephalosporins, quinolones and macrolide antibiotics. Timely treatment can prevent further enlargement of the cervix. 2. Abnormally elevated estrogen levels may induce cervical hypertrophy. Hormone disorders lead to hyperplasia of cervical glands and stroma, which increases the volume of the cervix. Hormone therapy can regulate estrogen levels in the body. Commonly used drugs include progesterone preparations, oral contraceptives, and aromatase inhibitors. 3. Multiple births or birth trauma may cause changes in the cervical structure, leading to cervical hypertrophy. Scar tissue may form during the healing process of surgical trauma, causing the cervix to thicken. Physical therapy methods include laser therapy, cryotherapy, and electrocautery, which can effectively eliminate abnormal proliferative tissue. 4 Cervical hypertrophy may be asymptomatic in the early stages, but if left untreated for a long time, it may develop into cervical cancer. Regular cervical cancer screening is necessary, including cervical cytology and HPV virus testing. For patients with severe cervical hypertrophy or suspected malignant lesions, cervical conization or hysterectomy is required. If cervical hypertrophy is not treated promptly, serious consequences may occur. Patients should be vigilant, undergo regular gynecological examinations, and seek medical attention promptly if any abnormalities are found. Reasonable treatment can effectively prevent the progression of the disease. |
