Will cervical adhesions cause intrauterine adhesions?

Will cervical adhesions cause intrauterine adhesions?

Cervical adhesions may lead to intrauterine adhesions, but these are two different location problems, although they may be related. Cervical adhesions are usually caused by damage to the cervix, such as surgery, infection, etc., while intrauterine adhesions usually occur after damage to the endometrium. The two may coexist for similar reasons. Understanding the causes of adhesions and how to prevent and treat them is essential to women's health.

Cervical adhesions may be caused by scar formation, infection or local inflammation after cervical surgery, such as cervical conization. Pathological cervical adhesions can prevent menstrual blood from flowing out normally, and may cause tissue hyperplasia in the uterine cavity to develop into intrauterine adhesions. The formation of intrauterine adhesions is often related to intrauterine operations, such as after curettage or ineffective control of endometrial inflammation. External factors such as trauma or bad living habits may also aggravate the occurrence of adhesions.

Treatment of cervical adhesions usually requires physical dilation or surgical separation. For example, hysteroscopy is a common minimally invasive method that can directly observe and treat cervical or intrauterine adhesions. Drug therapy such as estrogen adjuvant therapy helps restore the health of the endometrium. For intrauterine adhesions, surgical removal of adhesions and the use of anti-adhesion agents such as hyaluronic acid gel after surgery to prevent re-adhesion are effective methods.

To reduce the occurrence of cervical and intrauterine adhesions, unnecessary intrauterine operations should be avoided, especially multiple abortions. Pay attention to personal hygiene, actively treat reproductive system infections, and follow the doctor's advice for recovery and monitoring after surgery. Regular gynecological examinations, when necessary, can help to detect and deal with potential problems early and ensure reproductive health.
