Road running is a pleasure for healthy people, but it is a huge challenge for sick children! Every step is hard, but also a breakthrough for myself. In order to help children who have just recovered from a serious illness fulfill their dream of running, the Credit Suisse Children's Healthcare Foundation launched the "HAPPY RUN Charity Parent-Child Road Race". The road race is not limited to parents and children. As long as friends are willing to support children's medical rights, they can come to accompany sick children to fulfill their dream of running. In order to raise funds from the public to share the high out-of-pocket medical expenses of critically ill children, to help them out of their financial difficulties and to call on the public to pay more attention to "children's medical rights", the Credit Suisse Children's Medical Foundation held the 4th Credit Suisse HAPPY RUN charity parent-child road race this year. There are less than 3 weeks left to the registration deadline (September 30), but the number of registrants is far from the originally expected number!

In order to gather more caring people to come to the scene and help the sick children realize their dreams, we specially invited pediatrician Chen Peiqi to shoot a heartwarming short video, and called on the public to sign up actively, share and forward it, and care for this group of children in need of support. In the public welfare short film, Chen Pei-chi, the current full-time attending physician and director of the Pediatrics Department of the Taipei Municipal United Hospital's Heping Women and Children's Hospital, wore a white coat and kindly asked the child who looked unwell: "Where do you feel uncomfortable?" After a careful diagnosis, she prescribed an ultrasound! special! Don't! prescription pad. When the three children went to get their medicine, they found that the familiar medicine bag did not contain any bitter pills. Instead, they took out a "HAPPY RUN charity road race ticket". Well-known pediatrician Chen Shixiang called on the public to realize that "children's treatment needs to be customized for children"

Chen Shixiang, attending physician of the Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and winner of the 2013 Credit Suisse Children's Healthcare Contribution Award, gave an example, saying that children's language expression ability is not fully developed and they are unable to understand what doctors and nurses say. Even if adults think a simple sentence like "What's wrong with you? Where do you feel uncomfortable?" children are unable to clearly express their pain. In addition, children are easily afraid of unfamiliar environments and people, and their most common reaction to any medical treatment is direct resistance and inability to cooperate smoothly.

An action that can be quickly diagnosed in adult patients usually needs to be broken down into two or more times to be completed in children. This is why it takes more time and effort to treat young patients than adult patients, and this is also the spirit of the Credit Suisse Children's Medical Foundation in promoting friendly medical care in pediatrics - to the extent possible, empathize with children's emotions, and not just enforce force for the sake of efficiency. The spiritual feelings of children should be taken into consideration and friendly treatment methods should be tailored to the needs of children.

Yang Wenli, strategic director of Taipei City United Hospital, said: "This should be considered a road race with a super high safety level. There are many medical staff among the runners. 2018 Credit Suisse HAPPY RUN Charity Parent-Child Road Run invites everyone to sign up and participate

The Credit Suisse Children's Medical Foundation invited Taipei City Health Bureau Director Huang Shih-chieh, who is an expert in pediatrics, NTU Children's Hospital Director Wu Mei-huan, Taipei City United Medical Center Strategy Director Yang Wen-li, and charity brands that sponsor the race to sign and hold up signs inviting the public to "care for sick children," "support child-friendly medical care," and "sign up for the Credit Suisse HAPPY RUN," in order to support sick children with their charity work.

Credit Suisse's annual road race HAPPY RUN will be held on November 3. This year, it will be moved to the Taipei Machangding Memorial Park for the first time.
