Swedish study: 66 grams of chocolate a week can prevent stroke

Are you a chocolate lover who is still worried about gaining weight? Many previous studies have confirmed that the benefits of consuming chocolate far outweigh its disadvantages. Now, the latest research results from Sweden have brought more "good news", indicating that consuming 66 grams of chocolate per week can significantly reduce the risk of stroke. This gives women who can't resist temptation a reason to eat more!

Good news! Eating more cocoa-rich chocolate can significantly reduce the risk of stroke in the future.

Deutsche Welle recently reported that the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, has been conducting a long-term observation on 33,000 middle-aged and elderly women aged between 49 and 83 since 1997. The subjects reported their recent diet to the researchers at regular intervals. A total of 96 foods, including chocolate, were taken into consideration. During the 10 years of the experiment, about 1,600 women suffered strokes of varying degrees. After eliminating all potential factors, the researchers found that those who consumed an average of 66 grams of chocolate per week had a very low risk of stroke. On the contrary, those who most often suffered strokes almost never ate chocolate.

The survey did not find any significant difference in the risk of stroke between people who ate milk chocolate and dark chocolate, but it is certain that people who consumed more chocolate had significantly lower and more stable blood pressure. The cocoa in chocolate is itself an antioxidant that can strengthen blood vessels and effectively reduce the chance of blockage. Therefore, this result once again proves that eating chocolate to prevent cardiovascular disease is not an empty talk. The researchers' next step will be to focus on men to confirm whether similar effects occur.

Doctors remind that the theory of "eating chocolate to prevent cardiovascular disease" must be based on a regular and quantitative daily intake and no drastic fluctuations in body weight. In other words, if excessive consumption of chocolate rich in sugar and dairy products leads to morbid obesity, it will only increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.
