"Cell Metabolism" recently published the latest publication from Yale University in the United States. The research team said that a low-calorie diet has the potential to quickly reverse the symptoms of patients with type 2 diabetes. Scientists predict that by 2050, 1 in 3 Americans may develop type 2 diabetes, according to a recent study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In the study, the authors used mice as experimental animals and found that by reducing the mice's daily calorie intake by 75%, blood sugar levels could be lowered and fat content could be reduced. Converting a similar ratio to humans would mean reducing the average calorie intake from 1,600 to 3,000 calories to 500 to 800 calories. The authors said that if similar effects can be seen in humans in future experiments, there may be a chance to apply it to combat the crisis caused by chronic diseases.
