The brain revolution for weight loss! Should I throw the bread aside first to lose weight?

Many people make their own bread at home. Most people think that "pasta is our traditional staple food and should be very healthy." Some people also claim that "eating multi-grain bread and whole wheat bread should be healthy, right?" However, obesity specialists believe that if you want to lose weight, you must undergo a "brain revolution." The first step is to throw away the bread at home and refuse to eat flour products during the weight loss period. Even after you reach the target, you should try not to eat them.

Song Yanren, the former director of the Department of Health and an obesity specialist, tried various methods to lose weight, but all failed. It was not until he used Harvard University's "Healthy Eating Plate" as a benchmark and created the "Healthy Weight Loss Plate Food Ratio" 211 Weight Loss Plate, which successfully lost nearly 20 kilograms, that he realized the importance of starting from the heart and taking the "weight loss mentality" seriously.

Obesity specialist: The first step of the "brain revolution" is to throw the bread aside

Dr. Song Yanren pointed out in his new book "211 Fully Balanced Weight Loss Method for Lifelong Slimming" that the meaning of weight loss is to re-establish a healthy lifestyle. The key to its success lies in whether you have made a "brain revolution" and made a fundamental reconstruction from the perspective of food and lifestyle. The first step of the "brain revolution" is to throw away the bread at home? Like most people, he once learned to make whole wheat bread at home. He thought that multi-grain bread and whole wheat bread should be much better than white bread. Later, after searching for various recipes, he found out that in order to make whole wheat bread delicious, at least half of it needs to be made of high-gluten flour. Moreover, if improvers or wheat gluten are not added, the whole wheat bread will be hard and difficult to eat.

Although we cannot say that businesses add improvers or use other methods to make bread soft, but judging from the collected recipes, whole wheat flour may not be truly whole wheat. Many studies have also pointed out that pasta may cause blood sugar to rise, so some diabetes experts recommend that diabetic patients try not to eat flour-based foods. Therefore, if you are planning to lose weight, it is recommended that you try not to eat bread.

The second step of the brain revolution: Starchy foods should become "complementary foods"

As for the second step of the brain revolution for weight loss, it is to stop taking traditional starchy foods as staple foods. In the past, we classified rice, bread, and root vegetables as staple foods, but now they should be transformed into "side dishes." According to the "Healthy Eating Plate" proposed by Harvard University, the amount of starch intake should be strictly controlled to only one quarter of each meal. However, based on Dr. Song Yanren's experience in leading weight loss classes and counseling patients, in order to achieve the effect of weight loss using the "Healthy Eating Plate" concept, the intake of starch needs to be adjusted down a bit. The ideal starch intake should account for about one-sixth of each meal, and the remaining portion should be filled with protein.

The reason why we need to reduce starch intake is that if we eat too much starch, especially refined starch, such as Western bread, Chinese buns, dumplings, sesame seed cakes and fried dough sticks, which are all very easy to digest foods, it will also cause blood sugar to rise quickly. Once the blood sugar concentration rises, the pancreas will secrete insulin, prompting sugar to enter the cells to be consumed, or stored as fat, and weight control will be difficult.
