Facing the truth about obesity (Part 3): Obesity is a physiological problem

According to the laws of thermodynamics, if we take in more calories than we burn, we will gain weight; if we have already gained weight, it is because we are taking in more calories than we are burning. As to why this is so, why do we take in more calories than we burn? Why do we eat too much? Why are we getting fatter? The laws of thermodynamics say nothing.

The idea that burning more calories than you consume (i.e., eating less and exercising more) can correct weight problems is an assumption based on the laws of thermodynamics. This assumption states that the amount of calories our bodies burn and take in have little to do with each other, which is incorrect. If reducing calorie intake doesn't help us lose weight, and increasing calorie expenditure doesn't prevent us from gaining weight, perhaps we should rethink the whole situation and figure out what works. We should not think about obesity from the perspective of physics, but from the perspective of physiology.

To delve deeper into obesity, we must first understand the fat tissue in the body. In the early 1970s, George, a researcher at the University of Massachusetts. In order to study the relationship between sex hormones, weight and appetite, George Wade removed the ovaries of a group of mice and then observed changes in their weight and behavior. As a result, these mice began to eat a lot and soon became fat mice.

If you don't understand it in depth, you might think that if the ovaries of mice are removed, they will become greedy and obese. Ward conducted a second experiment, this time removing the mice's ovaries and then subjecting them to strict post-operative dietary control. The mice grew fat just as fast, but now they hardly moved, only moving when they were about to eat. If you only look at the second experiment, you might think that removing the mice's ovaries would make them lazy and inactive.

In fact, the conclusion of the first experiment was that removing the mouse's ovaries would stimulate its fat tissue to absorb more calories from the blood circulation and produce more fat. (Mice don't get fat because they eat too much; they eat too much because they are storing fat.) The conclusion of the second experiment was that if these mice were not allowed to eat as much as they wanted, they would reduce their calorie consumption. These studies show that gluttony and laziness, which seem to be the causes of obesity, are actually its results.

In 1908, German physician Gustav. Von Bergman pointed out: "The human body can always find the calories it needs to grow, and if the body wants to gain weight, even if it wants to gain ten times the weight, the body will save the calories it needs from the annual intake and consumption process."

Julius, professor at the University of Vienna. Bauer also wrote in 1929: "Even in conditions of malnutrition, the abnormal lipophilic tissue will monopolize the food and maintain its stock independently of the requirements of the general body functions. It is like anarchy, the fat tissue follows its own course and does not cooperate with the general management of the body."

Fat tissue is so overbearing. This can explain the overweight mothers and stunted children in the slums. In fact, these mothers and children are in a semi-starved state. The skinny children's growth is stunted, while the mothers are controlled by the fat tissue in their bodies and involuntarily store fat. Even though the mothers, like the children, cannot get enough food to survive, they will definitely respond by reducing calorie consumption.
