In recent years, the Chinese people's diet has become westernized, they eat more and exercise less, they don't like to drink water and prefer to drink beverages, etc. As a result, diabetes has quickly climbed to the fourth place among the top ten causes of death, and nearly 30% of the people do not know that they have high blood sugar. Diabetes may also cause retinopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy 10 years after onset, and obesity is a major risk factor for type 2 diabetes. Therefore, people at high risk of diabetes should get tested early to check whether they have diabetes and control the disease early to reduce complications. Early detection of six high-risk groups for diabetes The early symptoms of diabetes are actually not obvious. By the time symptoms appear, the condition is already very serious. Therefore, the following six groups at high risk of diabetes should undergo regular blood sugar and other related tests. 1. People aged 40 and above. 2. People with high blood pressure, high blood lipids, and heart disease. 3. Those with a family history of diabetes. 4 Obese people, BMI greater than 24. 5. Women who have high blood sugar problems during pregnancy. 6 had stage 1 diabetes. Blood sugar test to detect diabetes The most common methods for detecting diabetes are currently fasting blood glucose test, oral glucose tolerance test, and random blood glucose test. It is recommended that high-risk groups can undergo the following tests to see if they have diabetes. 1 Fasting blood sugar test: Measure the blood sugar level after fasting for 8 hours. If the fasting blood sugar level is between 100 and 125 mg/dL, it is prediabetes, which means that although you are not sick yet, you may develop type 2 diabetes. If the blood sugar level is 126 mg/dL or above during the second check, it means you have diabetes. 2 Oral glucose tolerance test: measure the blood sugar level after fasting for 8 hours and the blood sugar level 2 hours after drinking 75 grams of glucose water. If the blood sugar level 2 hours after drinking the sugar water is between 140 and 199 mg/dL, it is prediabetes and may develop into type 2 diabetes. If the second check shows that the blood sugar level is 200 mg/dL or above 2 hours after drinking the sugar water, it means you have diabetes. 3 Random blood sugar check: Any blood sugar level measured at any time is 200 mg/dL or above. This test can detect diabetes but not prediabetes. If symptoms of diabetes are present, your doctor may also do a fasting blood sugar test or a glucose tolerance test to confirm the diagnosis. The fight against diabetes needs urgent action For people at high risk of diabetes, in addition to regular testing for diabetes, they must also keep themselves away from the shadow of diabetes. The best way is to do proper exercise. Exercise can help reduce weight, help control blood sugar, improve cardiopulmonary function, etc. It can be said that it has only benefits and no harm. It is recommended to develop a "333" exercise habit, at least 3 days a week, 30 minutes each time, and a heart rate of 130 beats per minute. |
