Well-known host Chen Wenxian once shared a dinner recipe for losing 20 kilograms, which was to eat bamboo shoots, guava, tomatoes, and dragon fruit. Many people who are trying to lose weight also want to imitate her, especially thinking that eating guava meals can intake a lot of fiber. However, doctors point out that guava is high in calories and sweetness. It is generally recommended that people who are trying to lose weight consume 2 servings of fruit a day, and 1 serving of fruit is only about 1/3 of a guava. If you eat guava as your main meal to your heart's content, it may be difficult to lose weight.

Chen Shifeng, a Chinese medicine practitioner who specializes in weight loss, said that many people who are trying to lose weight will follow the weight loss methods of celebrities, but they often take them out of context. For example, when they hear that a celebrity has eaten a certain fruit, the people who are trying to lose weight will directly eat this fruit as the main meal. Little do they know that it is very easy to get hungry if they only eat fruit. If they cannot resist the hunger, they may even eat more food. Therefore, fruit meals are not recommended for healthy weight loss.

You also have to be selective when eating fruits. Dr. Chen Shifeng emphasizes that "portion" is the key. In his weight loss menu, he recommends that people who want to lose weight consume 2 servings of fruit a day. However, not one piece of fruit is equal to one serving. It is generally easier to calculate the amount of fruit in a serving. One serving is approximately equal to a small apple, an orange, a kiwi, 12 to 15 grapes, or 6 to 8 cherry tomatoes. Therefore, these fruits are more often listed in weight loss menus.

As for guava, one serving of fruit is only about one-third of a guava, and guava has a solid flesh like bananas, but is sweeter than bananas. Therefore, if you eat too much guava or have it as a main meal, you will end up taking in too many calories and sweets.

In addition, don't eat fruits in moderation. Dr. Chen Shifeng said that the recent rumor that eating exotic fruits with the skin can help you lose weight is actually nonsense. Besides being unfounded, this way of eating may cause food allergies, which is simply not worth the risk.

Dr. Chen Shifeng explained that weight loss is not about what to eat and what not to eat, but a matter of portion size. He suggested that on the premise of balanced nutrition, you should eat starch, vegetables and fruits, fish, meat, milk, eggs and beans. As long as the total calories are controlled within a certain range and you eat until you are about 70% full, you will not feel full, but you will not be too hungry either. Coupled with persistent exercise, you can successfully achieve the effect of weight loss.
