Sculpting soft lines with water jet autologous fat transplantation

Chang Gung Memorial Hospital has invited Professor Yves Surlemont from Rouen University Hospital in France to participate in the international academic seminar on water jet autologous fat transplantation at the "Body Sculpting and Autologous Fat Transplantation Surgery Academic Seminar" held today and tomorrow.

Water jet liposuction uses mechanical negative pressure to suck back the flushing fluid and chylomicronized adipose tissue, while completely preserving blood vessels, nerves, lymphatic vessels and fibrous tissue. The flushing fluid of water jet liposuction will not penetrate into the fat cells and cause swelling, nor will it press fat fragments into blood vessels. Therefore, although water jet liposuction is not like the brute force pushing and pulling of traditional liposuction, it causes less serious damage and bruising to the tissues than traditional liposuction.

Dr. Yves Surlemont pointed out that the key point of autologous fat transplantation lies in the "fat survival rate". Not all fat extracted by liposuction is suitable for transplantation. The fat survival rate of traditional liposuction is low, so the effect of transplantation and backfilling is not good. Water jet liposuction improves the risks of traditional liposuction, with an intraoperative fat survival rate of up to 80%, allowing the transplanted tissue to fully integrate and grow with existing tissue.

Dr. Chen Runchu, director of the plastic surgery department at the Taoyuan branch of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, also said that water jet autologous fat transplantation can completely separate fat cells from nerves and blood vessels without damaging other surrounding tissues. It can also reduce postoperative swelling, pain and bruising, just like using water to flush plants. Water can wash away the soil (fat) while completely preserving the roots (blood vessels and nerves). It is a relatively safe and effective method among the various liposuction procedures currently available. The fat removed by water jet liposuction is soft and creamy, like "fat-based hyaluronic acid", with tiny molecules, making it very easy to fill in and reconstruct the area.

Chang Gung Memorial Hospital plastic surgeon Dr. Chen Ying-an said that in addition to the reconstruction needs of surgical operations, autologous fat transplantation with water jet has begun to be used for facial sculpting. Many young people who love beauty inject their own fat into their chin to lengthen their facial proportions and turn their square faces into oval faces; older people use their own fat for anti-aging and rejuvenation projects, filling in sunken cheeks, plumping up temples, smoothing out wrinkles and fine lines, and even using it to improve scars on their hands.

Women who love beauty are reminded that no matter which liposuction method they choose, they should be moderate and not extract too much at one time. It is recommended that the amount of liposuction each time should not exceed 4000-6000cc, and the liposuction area at a single time should not exceed 40% of the body surface area.
