Plastic surgeon Dr. Li Zhaoxiang said that there are three types of body sculpting: the more effective invasive methods include traditional liposuction, water jet liposuction, laser lipolysis and the new 4D Vaser fat sculpting; as for non-invasive methods, they include the currently popular Velashape dual radiofrequency lipolysis, cryolipolysis and targeted shock wave lipolysis.

There are relatively new, safer and side-effect-free fat sculpting methods available. For example, 4D Vaser uses a frequency of 36,000 Hz to emulsify body fat, and then uses a fine drainage tube to drain the fat out of the body, thereby reducing body fat. The drained fat has a high survival rate and can be used for fat replacement surgery. Because its working principle is emulsification, it will not damage the surrounding nerves, blood vessels and connective tissues, and can reduce postoperative swelling and bruising. It is suitable for large-scale fat removal, such as saddle buttocks, thighs, bucket waist and other parts; or shallow fat sculpting that is not easy to perform with traditional liposuction, such as vest line, slender waist and six-pack abs.

In addition, Taiwan has introduced a new liposuction-like device in recent years - Velashape dual-wave lipolysis, which uses bipolar radio waves plus infrared light with a wavelength of 700nm to 2000nm to generate heat energy. On the one hand, it penetrates the dermis, proliferates collagen fibers and tightens the skin; on the other hand, the heat energy increases the metabolism of fat in the subcutaneous tissue and reduces its volume; then negative pressure suction is used to increase blood vessel permeability, allowing heat energy to penetrate evenly to achieve the effect of body sculpting.

It is also a non-invasive method of cryolipolysis. It uses the fact that fat cannot tolerate cold to absorb the area to be treated through vacuum pressure. The fat cells will slowly die when frozen and then be naturally metabolized by the human body. However, because it can only have a more obvious effect on the abdomen and waist, it cannot improve the overall body curve of the saddle buttocks, butterfly sleeves and thighs that women care about.

Any body sculpting method is not weight loss, so the weight will not be significantly reduced, but it will sculpt the body, so don't have any misconceptions. Dr. Li Zhaoxiang said that in fact, each type of body sculpting surgery has its own advantages and disadvantages. Consumers must first determine their own innate conditions and communicate their expectations in detail with the doctor. Then, after careful evaluation by a professional doctor, they can choose a body sculpting method that is tailored to their individual needs in order to achieve the ideal effect.
