A new option to lose calories: walking on the hot spring trail is effective

Don’t want to sweat it out in a gym surrounded by walls, and can’t find like-minded partners to play outdoors together? Why not choose brisk walking, a sport that has become popular in recent years? Not only can you enjoy the scenery without having to worry about being alone, but you can also avoid common sports injuries from strenuous exercise and achieve the goal of exercising and maintaining health in a gentle way.

In order to let more people understand the benefits of brisk walking, the Taipei City Government held the "Easy Move ~ Eat Healthy" event today, the 4th, to teach the public to make full use of the newly planned "Beitou Hot Spring Trail Map" to consume excess fat calories in the body and improve health by walking on the trail.

Chiu Hsiu-yi, director of the Beitou District Health Service Center in Taipei City, said that walking is the most suitable aerobic exercise for the general public. As long as you develop the habit of regular walking, walking 2 steps per second, maintaining a speed and distance of 80 to 100 centimeters per step, and walking for 30 to 60 minutes a day, you can enhance cardiopulmonary function, promote blood circulation, activate the immune system, strengthen bone density, relieve stress, increase muscle endurance, and reduce body fat.

What’s special is that the “Beitou Hot Spring Trail Map” clearly indicates the distance of each section and the calories consumed, so that people know how much body fat they can burn by walking a certain distance. For example, just walking around the 1,386-meter hot spring trail can burn 49.7 calories, which is equivalent to the calories in 10 peanuts.

However, in order to avoid physical burden caused by incorrect walking methods, the Beitou District Health Service Center also provides correct walking tips.

【Tips for healthy walking】

1. Upper body movement essentials:

  • Bend your elbows 90 degrees.

  • Do not swing your arms forward above your chest, and swing your fists back to your sides.

  • Pull your body upward without hunching.

2. Lower body movement essentials:

  • Land on your heels first.

  • Keep your knees flexible and not stiff.

  • Brisk walking is not the same as walking with long strides.
