Study: Men who drink 7 cups of black tea a day are more likely to develop prostate cancer

In the food culture of the United States, people like to have a cup of tea after a meal to remove greasiness, while the British like to spend a leisurely afternoon tea time with a pot of tea and a few cakes. Both cultures are highly dependent on tea, and some people even drink tea as water. However, British scholars have issued a warning, saying that if men drink more than 7 cups of tea a day, the risk of getting prostate cancer will increase by 40%, which should not be taken lightly.

The British Daily Mail reported on the 18th that researchers from the University of Glasgow in Scotland tracked more than 6,000 men for 37 years, and nearly a quarter of them had severe tea addiction, that is, drinking more than 7 cups of tea a day (mainly black tea). After taking all possible carcinogenic factors into consideration, the researchers found that the proportion of these people who developed prostate cancer was 6.4%, which is 40% higher than the 4.6% of other subjects who drank a maximum of 3 cups of tea a day.

Many studies in the past have shown that tea is rich in flavonoids. Maintaining a good tea drinking habit is beneficial to maintaining cardiovascular health and can also reduce the incidence of diabetes and Parkinson's disease. However, no connection has been found between black tea and prostate cancer. Therefore, many relevant scholars have doubts about the results of this study, believing that family heredity, lifestyle habits, etc. are more likely to be the cause of prostate cancer in men.

No other Western country's people love drinking tea as much as the British. The entire industry has an annual output value of nearly 700 million pounds (32.752 billion Taiwan dollars), and more than 80% of people sip 2 to 3 cups a day. There are indeed many people who drink too much, so this study really made many tea-loving men sweat.
