In order to monitor domestic food additive manufacturers and the flow of their products and to prevent the illegal use or abuse of food additives from the source, the Food and Drug Administration of the Department of Health is proposing to amend the law to prioritize mandatory registration of food additive operators. It is also currently setting up a "Must-Registration" website to encourage operators to register to declare their independent product management. Currently, 5,335 food additives have completed registration.

The plasticizer storm originated from unscrupulous manufacturers adding inappropriate additives to food. The Food and Drug Administration stated that the food additive registration system is a new measure taken by the Department of Health to strengthen the management of food additives. By requiring businesses to proactively register each food additive product they produce or sell, the system can timely grasp the product types and flows of domestic food additive manufacturers and conduct listing and inspections.

Currently, the Food and Drug Administration has completed the construction of the website http://fadenbook.fda.gov.tw/, which is named after the phonetic translation of "must be registered", meaning that a registration system is imperative. After promotional briefings, 416 businesses and 5,335 food additives have completed the registration.
