Taoyuan County to expand inspections for 6 weeks as Clenbuterol scandal spreads

Due to the ongoing controversy over clenbuterol, all cattle, pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, etc. have been affected by clenbuterol. Is there a "problem" with this continuing controversy? To ensure the safety of meat consumed by the public, the Taoyuan County Health Bureau will expand random inspections of beef, pork, duck, goose and other meat products sold in school lunches, supermarkets, traditional markets, and restaurants starting from March 19 to ensure the safety of meat consumed by the public. This expanded inspection will last for 6 weeks until April 30.

The Taoyuan County Health Bureau stated that the issue of clenbuterol has recently caused great concern among the public. In addition to continuing to conduct random inspections on commercially available beef products, pork, goose, duck and other livestock and poultry meat products will also be included in the sampling focus. The Department of Health urges catering operators to implement the posting of meat origin labels, which can be posted on cards, marks (labels) or signs (boards), by hanging, standing (inserting) signs, pasting or other methods that are sufficient to identify them, or marking them on notices, signs or menus at the store entrance; and calls on operators to obtain inspection reports from meat manufacturers.
